Abstract: The thermoplastic moulding compsns. contain as flame-proofing agent a combination of na) a cpd. of formula (I): (where X and Y are -CBr3; in which n = 1-3; or -CHBr2) and (b) is not 1 synergist for (a). The compsn. contains a relatively small amt. of organic halogen cpd., and the softening point and mechanical properties of the polymer are not affected. The compsn. remains self-extinguishing after long periods at high temp., and shows less tendency to drip in the case of fire.
