Abstract: The invention relates to compounds of the formula in which R and R are halogen atoms and/or Me S groups, where R and R may be identical or different, X is hydrogen, chlorine and/or bromine, Y is sulphoxide, -SO-, and/or sulphone, -SO2-, m is an integer from 2 to 500, n is zero or an integer from 1 to 450, where n + m can be at most 500, with the proviso that the halogen content (from R or R and X) of the compound makes up at least 10 % by weight. These compounds are prepared by reacting compounds of the formula in which R and R are halogen atoms and/or Me S groups, where R and R may be identical or different, X is hydrogen and m is an integer from 2 to 500, with chlorine or bromine in an inert organic solvent or in an aluminium chloride melt, which may contain additives, at elevated temperatures. The compounds of the formula I are used for flameproofing thermoplastics.

Abstract: The invention relates to a thermoplastic moulding composition comprising a copolymer A and an aromatic polyester B. The (co)polymer A contains at least 50% by weight of styrene and is present in a proportion of from 85 to 99% by weight, based on the moulding composition. Abstract: Polyimidazolones consist mainly of units having general formula (I) (where R1 and R2 are aliphatic and/or aromatic gps. pref. 2-ring aromatic gps. having formula Ar-A-Ar, in which Ar is opt. substd. They are useful for prepg. heat-stable moulded bodies and coating compsns. Low mol. wt. (I) contg. NCO end-gps. can be processed to polyurethanes, polyisocyanurates or polycarbodiimides. Higher mol. wt. (I) can be used for foils, foams, insulating lacquers, coatings or fibres. (I) are heat-stable; partly soluble in CH2Cl2, CHCl3, DMF, dimethyl acetamide, dimethyl sulphoxide and N-Me pyrrolidone; and can be processed on standard machinery.
