    Abstract: Low-volatile laminatable unsatd. polyester resins, hardenable by standard polymerisation initiators, consists of (a) >=1 ethylenically unsatd. copolymerisable polyester, (b) >=1 ethylenically unsaturated monomer, (c) a waxy material, opt. (d) standard fillers and auxiliaries, and also 0.1-3 (0.5-2) wt.%, w.r.t. total wt. of (a) + (b), of >=1 liq. 5-17 (8-12) C n-alkane, (I), esp. n-octane. The compsns. are used for coatings, fine layers and opt. reinforced moulded articles. The addn. of (I) prevents or reduces the separating activity of the waxes, without increasing monomer vaporisation. Strong bonding of laminate layers can be achieved, even on using large wax quantities, when lamination takes place at time intervals of >=24 hrs. Combination of wax and (I) prevents penetration of water into the hardened mouldings, allowing the use of compsns. in boat-building.

    Abstract: A curable resin is composed of A. an epoxy resin and B. a pyrylium salt as a catalyst, with or without C. a metal chelate or metal salt as a co-catalyst. Preferred pyrylium salts are those of the formula Preferred co-catalysts are acetylacetonates, stearates, benzoates, naphthenates, octoates or phthalates of Cu++, Co++, Co+++, Fe+++ or Al+++. The resin compositions may be used to produce coatings and moldings.
