Also claimed is a method of making the devices.

(I) are prepd. by reacting a haloacetamide of formula R -CO-CH2-Hal (II) with a thiourea of formula H2N-CS-R (III) in an inert organic diluent in the presence of an (in)organic acid halide at 0-70 deg C, then treating with a mineral acid at 0-70 deg C. Hal = halogen.
