    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economic method for manufacture of N-ethyl- diisopropylamine in an excellent space-time yield capable of carrying out in a discontinuous method or continuous method. SOLUTION: This method comprises the reaction of acetaldehyde, diisopropylamine and hydrogen at elevated temperature and pressurized condition in the presence of the hydrogenating catalyst, using a catalyst including oxide type supporting material selected from a group selected zirconium dioxide, titanium dioxide, aluminum oxide, silicone dioxide, zinc oxide, magnesium oxide, cerium dioxide, clay and zeolite and their mixtures.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain 2,2'-morpholino diethyl ether by using a specific catalyst before reducing diethylene glycol and ammonia with hydrogen. SOLUTION: This compound is obtained by incorporating a catalyst whose catalytic component contains aluminum oxide, zirconium dioxide, titanium dioxide, and/or silicon dioxide at 20-85 wt.%, an oxygen-containing compound of Cu at 1-70 wt.% as calculated as CuO, oxygen-containing compound(s) of Mg, Cr, Zn, Ba, and/or Ca at 0-50 wt.% as calculated as MgO, Cr2O3, ZnO, BaO, and/or CaO, respectively, and an oxygen-containing compound of Ni as calculated as NiO at less than 20 wt.% per the oxygen-containing compound of Cu before reducing diethylene glycol and ammonia with hydrogen in the presence of the obtained hydrogenation catalyst at an elevated temperature and pressure.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing anhydrous 2-amino-1- methoxypropane, capable of obtaining a desired product in high yield. SOLUTION: (a) Two phases comprising a reaction mixture and sodium hydroxide solution, obtained by reaction of 1-methoxy-2-propanol with ammonia on a catalyst are formed and (b) 2-amino-1-methoxypropane-containing phase is separated from water phase and (c) 2-amino-1-methoxypropane-containing phase is subjected to azeotropic distillation to produce an azeotropic mixture at first and the azeotropic mixture is returned to a process (a) or (b), and then, anhydrous 2-amino-1-methoxypropane is produced.

    Abstract: 2,2'-Dimorpholinodiethyl ether is produced by reacting diethylene glycol with ammonia under pressure at elevated temperature in the presence of hydrogen. The active hydrogenation catalyst, before reduction with hydrogen, contains 20-85 wt.% alumina, zirconium dioxide, titanium dioxide and/or silica, 1-70 wt.% copper oxide (CuO), less than 20 wt.% nickel oxide with respect to CuO and 0-50 wt.% other metal oxide(s). In the production of 2,2'-dimorpholinodiethyl ether (DMDEE) by reacting diethylene glycol with ammonia under pressure at elevated temperature in the presence of hydrogen and a hydrogenation catalyst, the active catalyst, before reduction with hydrogen, contains 20-85 wt.% aluminum oxide (Al2O3), zirconium dioxide (ZrO2), titanium dioxide (TiO2) and/or silica (SiO2), 1-70 wt.% copper oxide (expressed as CuO), 0-50 wt.% magnesium, chromium, zinc, barium and/or calcium oxide (expressed as MgO, Cr2O3, ZnO, BaO and CaO) and less than 20 wt.% nickel oxide (expressed as NiO) with respect to CuO.

    Abstract: Production of anhydrous 2-amino-1-methoxypropane (I) comprises (a) treating an aqueous reaction mixture (II) containing (I), obtained by reacting 1-methoxy-2-propanol with ammonia (NH3) on a catalyst, with aqueous sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution to form an aqueous phase containing aqueous NaOH solution and a phase containing (I); (b) separating the phase (III) containing (I) from the aqueous phase; and (c) distilling (III) to separate an azeotrope of water and (I), which is recycled to step (a) or (b), and then anhydrous (I). Also claimed is a method of separating water from (II) in this way.
