Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economic method for manufacture of N-ethyl- diisopropylamine in an excellent space-time yield capable of carrying out in a discontinuous method or continuous method. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain 2,2'-morpholino diethyl ether by using a specific catalyst before reducing diethylene glycol and ammonia with hydrogen. SOLUTION: This compound is obtained by incorporating a catalyst whose catalytic component contains aluminum oxide, zirconium dioxide, titanium dioxide, and/or silicon dioxide at 20-85 wt.%, an oxygen-containing compound of Cu at 1-70 wt.% as calculated as CuO, oxygen-containing compound(s) of Mg, Cr, Zn, Ba, and/or Ca at 0-50 wt.% as calculated as MgO, Cr2O3, ZnO, BaO, and/or CaO, respectively, and an oxygen-containing compound of Ni as calculated as NiO at less than 20 wt.% per the oxygen-containing compound of Cu before reducing diethylene glycol and ammonia with hydrogen in the presence of the obtained hydrogenation catalyst at an elevated temperature and pressure.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the obtaining of a process by which a high yield or a quantitative conversion rate can be achieved by reacting an organic compound in the presence of a catalyst containing a specific metal supported on a specified support. SOLUTION: An organic compound is reacted in the presence of a catalyst comprising (B) ruthenium alone or together with at least one group Ib, IIb or VIIIb as an active metal in an amount of 0.01-30wt.%, based on the total weight of the catalyst applied to (A) a support in which 50-90% of the pore volume of the support comprises mesepores having a pore diameter within the range of 2-50nm and the sum of the pores volumes is 100%. The reaction is preferably hydrogenation, dehydrogenation, hydrogenolysis, etc., especially preferably the hydrogenation. The organic compound is low molecular weight monomers and polymeric organic compounds, etc., which can be catalytically reacted. Thereby, the reaction can be carried out at a high space velocity and an ultrahigh turnover number for a long on-stream time, and a high yield and a high purity of a hydrogenation product can be expected.

Abstract: 2,2'-Dimorpholinodiethyl ether is produced by reacting diethylene glycol with ammonia under pressure at elevated temperature in the presence of hydrogen. In the production of 2,2'-dimorpholinodiethyl ether (DMDEE) by reacting diethylene glycol with ammonia under pressure at elevated temperature in the presence of hydrogen and a hydrogenation catalyst, the active catalyst, before reduction with hydrogen, contains 20-85 wt.% aluminum oxide (Al2O3), zirconium dioxide (ZrO2), titanium dioxide (TiO2) and/or silica (SiO2), 1-70 wt.% copper oxide (expressed as CuO), 0-50 wt.% magnesium, chromium, zinc, barium and/or calcium oxide (expressed as MgO, Cr2O3, ZnO, BaO and CaO) and less than 20 wt.% nickel oxide (expressed as NiO) with respect to CuO.

Also claimed is a method of separating water from (II) in this way.
