Abstract: A method for the production of aromatic di-isocyanates (I) by gas-phase reaction of phosgene with diamines involves carrying out the reaction in a reaction zone under a pressure of more than 3 bar and less than 20 bar. An Independent claim is also included for a production unit for this process, in which the ratio of production capacity to phosgene hold-up is more than 3200 tonnes di-isocyanate per annum/kg phosgene.
