Abstract: Un proceso para preparar dimetil eter de tri- y tetraoximetilenglicol (POMDMEn=3.4) reaccionado formaldehido con metanol y el tratamiento subsiguientemente de la mezcla de reaccion por destilacion, que comprende las etapas de: a) alimentar la solucion de formaldehido acuoso y metanol a un reactor y reaccionar; b) alimentar la mezcla a de reaccion a un evaporador reactivo y separarla en una friccion b1 con punto de ebullicion inferior que comprende formaldehido, agua, metanol, metilenglicol, polioximetilenglicoles, hemiformales, metilal y dimetil eteres de polioximetilenglicol (POMDMEn>1), y una fraccion b2 con punto de ebullicion superior, y reciclar la fraccion b2 con punto de ebullicion superior al reactor (etapa a)); c) alimentar la fraccion b1 con punto de ebullicion inferior a una primera columna de destilacion y separarla en una fraccion c1 con punto de ebullicion inferior que comprende formaldehido, agua, metilenglicol, metanol, hemiformales, metilal, dimetil eter de di-, tri- y tetraoximetilenglicol (POMDMEn=2,3,4), y una fraccion c2 con punto de ebullicion superior, y reciclar la fraccion c2 fraccion con punto de ebullicion superior en el evaporador reactivo (etapa b)); d) alimentar la fraccion c1 con punto de ebullicion inferior a una segunda columna de destilacion y separarla en una fraccion d1 con punto de ebullicion inferior y una fraccion d2 con punto de ebullicion superior que consiste de formaldehido, agua, metilenglicol, polioximetilenglicoles, dimetil eter de tri- y tetraoximetilenglicol (POMDMEn=3.4); e) alimentar la fraccion d2 con punto de ebullicion superior a un aparato de separacion de fases y separarla en una fase e1 acuosa que consiste de formaldehido, agua, metilenglicol y polioximetilenglicoles, y una fase e2 organica que comprende dimetil eter de tri- y tetraoximetilenglicol (POMDMEn=3,4); f) alimentar la fase e2 organica a una tercera columna de destilacion y separarla en una fraccion f1 con punto de ebullicion inferior que consiste de formaldehido, agua, metilenglicol y polioximetilenglicoles, y una fraccion f2 con punto de ebullicion superior que consiste de dimetil eter de tri- y tetraoximetilenglicol (POMDMEn=3.4).

Abstract: An aqueous solution of free hydroxylamine is prepared by treating a hydroxylammonium salt with ammonia by the countercurrent method in a stripping column by a process in which hydroxylamine is liberated and at the same time the solution obtained is separated by distillation into an aqueous hydroxylamine solution and a salt fraction. The novel process can be carried out in a simple and gentle manner and on a large scale. The danger of decomposition is minimized owing to the low thermal load, the low concentration of hydroxylamine and the short residence time in the process.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing mixtures consisting of diphenylmethane diisocyanates and polyphenylene-polymethylene-polyisocyanates containing a reduced amount of chlorinated secondary products and with a reduced iodine colour index. According to said method, a two-stage reaction of the corresponding mixtures of diphenylmethane-diamines and polyphenylenepolymethylene polyamines with phosgene is carried out in the presence of at least one inert organic solvent at a high temperature. When the phosgenation is complete, the excess phosgene and solvent are separated off and the product of the reaction is treated with heat. The method is characterised in that the mass ratios of phosgene to hydrogen chloride in the detention apparatus in the second stage of phosgenation are simultaneously 10-30:1 in the liquid phase and 1-10:1 in the gas phase.

Abstract: The production of methylene-di-phenylamine from aniline (A) and formaldehyde (F) with an acid catalyst (C) comprises placing (A) and possibly (C) in a reactor, feeding (F) and possibly (C) through a mixer into a circulation loop containing (A), possibly (C) and possibly (F), and heating to above 75 degrees C after adding at least 50% of the total (F). Independent claims are also included for: (a) mixtures containing methylene-di-phenylamine (MDA) obtained by this process; (b) a process for the production of polyisocyanates by phosgenation of these mixtures; (c) a process for the production of methylene-diphenylisocyanate (MDI) by phosgenation of MDA (obtained as above) at 50-150 degrees C and 0.5-10 bar, optionally in presence of inert solvent; (d) a process for the production of MDI comprising: (1) the semi-continuous process described above using a mol ratio of (A):(C) = (1:0.6)-(1:0.01) and a mol ratio of (A):(total F) = (1.7:1)-(7.2:1), in which the temperature of the circulating mixture is 20-75 degrees C and the mixture is heated for at least 0.2 hour at above 75 degrees C after adding at least 50% of the (F), (2) neutralization, (3) distillation of water and aniline, (4) phosgenation of the purified MDA as in (c) above, (5) removal of phosgene, hydrogen chloride and possibly solvent at below 150 degrees C under vacuum or inert gas, (6) removal of solvent at not above 1900 degrees C and (7) isolation of 2,2'-, 2,4'- and/or 4,4'-MDI and/or mixtures of at least two of these isomers by distillation at 2-50 mbar and 150-250 degrees C and/or by crystallization; and (e) polyisocyanates obtained by these processes.
