Abstract: 1. A flexible magnetic recording medium which comprises a polyethylene terephthalate film as the base, a magnetic layer which is applied to one side of the base and consists of anisotropic magnetic material dispersed in an organic binder, and a conductive backing coating which is one the side of the base opposite to the magnetic layer and consists of non-magnetizable conductive and non-conductive solids finely dispersed in a binder, wherein the binder for the backing coating consists of a mixture of (a) from 20 to 45 parts by weight of a linear saturated polyester resin, (b) from 10 to 45 parts by weight of a polyurethane resin, (c) from 15 to 45 parts by weight of a polyphenoxy resin, and (d) from 5 to 30 parts by weight of a linear polyesterurethane resin.

Abstract: A magnetic recording material is produced by spreading a dispersion of anisotropic material particles together with other particles in a fluid solution over the surface of a corner. The solution consists of a polymer binding agent in an organic fluid. The material is passed through a magnetic field to orientate the magnetic particles. The mixture has carbon in a water repellent polysilicic acid in 0.3 to 5 percent by weight. ADVANTAGE - Avoids high wear resistant over wide temperature range.

Abstract: Layer-type magnetic recording media are produced by dispersing a finely divided magnetically anisotropic material in a binder which consists of not less than 40% of a radiation-curable aqueous binder dispersion, applying the dispersion onto a non-magnetic base, orienting the magnetically anisotropic material and drying and crosslinking the applied layer by means of UV or high-energy electron radiation.

Abstract: Magnetic recording media which have a thin backing coating and consist of a non-magnetic flexible base and a magnetic layer which is applied to one side of the base and comprises magnetic material finely dispersed in an organic binder are produced by applying a dispersion of finely divided non-magnetizable conductive and non-conductive solids and conventional additives in a solution of a polymeric binder in an organic solvent to that side of the base which is opposite the magnetic layer by means of a knife-coater, and then drying the layer, a high molecular weight organic compound which acts as a thickener being added to the backing coating dispersion.
