Abstract: The invention relates to urea group-containing polyisocyanate mixtures which are liquid at room temperature and have an isocyanate group content of from 15 to 30 weight percent and a diphenylmethane diisocyanate content of from 55 to 90 weight percent, obtained through the reaction of (A) polyoxyalkylene polyamines having a functionality of from 2 to 5 and an amine number from 20 to 250 with a polyisocyanate (B) selected from the group consisting of (B1) a mixture of diphenylmethane diisocyanates and polyphenyl polymethylene polyisocyanates having a diphenylmethane diisocyanate content of from 55 to 90 weight percent or (B2) at least one diphenylmethane diisocyanate isomer. The polyisocyanate mixtures claimed in the invention are used to prepare dense or cellular polyurethane and/or polyisocyanurate plastics, in particular, flexible polyurethane foams.

Abstract: The invention is a process for the preparation of elastic polyurethane flexible foams having densities from approximately 25 to 60 kg/m3, and producing molded articles in closed molds at temperatures from 25 DEG to 80 DEG C., comprising reacting (A) an organic polyisocyanate prepolymer having an isocyanate content from 6 to 20 percent by weight prepared by reacting a toluene diisocyanate and/or a diphenylmethane diisocyanate with a di- to tetrafunctional polyether polyol having a hydroxyl number from 20 to 50 and oxyethylene terminal group content of at least 10 to 30 percent by weight (B) a mixture of compounds containing reactive hydrogen atoms, comprising a mixture of (a) from 55 to 89.5 parts by weight of at least one di- to tetrafunctional polyether polyol having a hydroxyl number of from 20 to 80 and less than 10 percent by weight terminal oxyethylene groups, (b) from 0.5 to 20 parts by weight of at least one alkanolamine, and (c) from 10 to 25 parts by weight water, in the presence of (C) a blowing agent, (D) a catalyst, and optionally (E) auxiliaries and/or additives.

Abstract: For the preparation of elastic flexible polyurethane foams with improved breaking elongation and very good setting behavior as well as densities from 7 to 120 grams per liter, organic polyisocyanates are reacted in the presence of blowing agents, catalysts and, optionally, auxiliaries and/or additives with polyols based on polyoxyalkylene polyols having terminal oxyethylene blocks of a degree of oxyethlation of 1 to 13 and which have a content of primary hydroxyl groups at the corresponding degree of oxyethylation equal or exceeding the value of curve A in the Figure in which curve A describing the relationship of the content of primary hydroxyl groups with the degree of oxyethylation.

Abstract: Diphenylmethane diisocyanate-based liquid polyisocyanate mixtures containing urethane groups and having an isocyanate content of from 12 to 30 percent by weight are obtained by reaction of a polyoxypropylene polyoxyethylene polyol containing 5 to 30 percent by weight of oxyethylene with diphenylmethane diisocyanate-based isocyanates. These polyisocyanate mixtures are storage stable at low temperature and yield flexible polyurethane foams having improved mechanical properties.
