Abstract: Process for de-inking waste paper by defibration of the waste paper in water to a stock consistency of 1 to 8 % by weight at a temperature from 40 to 90 DEG C in the presence of alkali, wetting agent and flotation aid, residence time of the mixture in the vat, flotation and, if necessary, conventional bleaching of the fibre material, the defibration being carried out in the absence of waterglass, and 0.1 to 2.0 % by weight of a reducing agent, relative to the dry weight of the waste paper, being added at a pH of 8.5 to 12 before the completion of defibration or after this.

Abstract: Method comprises dilution of H2O-in-oil emulsion of the polymer with H2O so as to cause inversion and soln of the polymer H2O-in-oil emulsion and H2O in a wt. ratio of 1:8 to 1:100 are continuously introduced into a mixing zone so that the flow speed of the H2O lies within the range giving turbulence. The mixt. is then led out of the mixing zone through one or more apertures again at a speed which causes turbulence. The mixt. is allowed to remain in the next zone for a time and is finally diluted with more H2O in known manner. The process is effected continuously and is not affected by the presence of salts which in previous processes caused deposition of material. In an example, H2O at 1 litre/min and 70:30 acrylamide-diethylaminoethylacrylate copolymer in 22 wt. % H2O-in-oil emulsion at 25 ml/min. were pumped through narrow jets into a 10 cm3 mixing zone followed by a waiting zone and a 5 litre mixer. A stable soln of viscosity 620 mPa.s was obtd.

Abstract: Process for the production of water-soluble auxiliaries for the papermaking industry by reacting (a) 1 part by weight of a polyamidoamine obtained by condensing 1 mole of a dicarboxylic acid having from 4 to 10 carbon atoms with from 0.8 to 1.4 moles of a polyalkylene polyamine having from 3 to 10 alkyleneamine units and containing up to 8 ethyleneimine units per basic nitrogen atom with (b) 0.1 to 4 parts by weight of an alpha , omega -dichloro polyalkylene oxide obtained by reacting a polyalkylene oxide having from 8 to 100 alkylene oxide units with a compound selected from the group consisting of a thionyl chloride and phosgene and then cleaving the reaction products by heating them to a temperature of from 70 DEG to 150 DEG C. in the presence of a tertiary amine as catalyst, as crosslinking agent, at a temperature above 20 DEG C. in aqueous solution or in a water-soluble organic solvent, the reaction being carried out to a point at which the viscosity of an aqueous solution containing 20% by weight of auxiliary is from 300 to 2,500 mPas.

Abstract: A process for preparing sedimentation stable acrylamide polymer (I) water in oil dispersions by polymerising a water in oil emulsion of an aq. acrylamide soln. opt. contg. =50 wt. % of other water soluble monomers in a hydrophobic organic dispersion medium (II) in the presence of an emulsifier and an initiator is characterised in that (II) is a mixt. of a liquid hydrocarbon and a chloroparaffin having a density deviating is not >0.2 kg/m3 from that of the dispersed aq. phase. The dispersion is sedimentation stable and may be used as a flocculant, in the paper industry, in the treatment of industrial waste water, as a dispersion aid and protective colloid for boring mud and as in aid in secondary oil transportation.
