    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape by using a tube filled with a pressure-sensitive adhesive. SOLUTION: A skin tube E filled with a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition is allowed to enter an apparatus C having a cylindrical member A. While the skin tube is traveling inside the cylindrical member, it is cut in the longer direction to form a skin tape H. The skin tape H is separated from the pressure sensitive adhesive composition so as to leave some adhesive composition on the skin tape. The separated pressure-sensitive adhesive composition I is discharged out of the apparatus through an exit. The skin tape separated from the pressure-sensitive adhesive and having a layer of the pressure-sensitive adhesive remaining unseparated is rolled up.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust crosslinking so that an optimal combination of adhesive properties, peeling strength and shear strength can be obtained by exposing a radiation crosslinkable pressure-sensitive contact film to a radiation pattern formed of regions of different strength. SOLUTION: As a method for crosslinking a radiation crosslinkable pressure- sensitive contact film by exposing the radiation crosslinkable pressure-sensitive contact film to actinic rays of a regulated dose, the film surface is exposed to a regular or irregular radiation pattern formed of regions of different strengths to crosslink the pressure-sensitive contact film. The radiation pattern can be generated by converging radiation by an optical lens or a magnetic lens or by shading using shade regions by a mask or a stencil. As a crosslinkable compound, a copolymer of a benzophenone group-substituted (meth) acrylic acid derivative and an unsubstituted (meth)acrylate is particularly suitable.

    Abstract: In a process for manufacturing adhesive strips a tubular sleeve filled with adhesive is moved under tension through a pipe-shaped apparatus(A) and slit along the length to form a flat strip(H). Most of the adhesive drains from the sleeve, the remainder adheres to the strip(H) which is then wound up. Process equipment comprises the pipe(A) with three or more openings, two slitting knives(F) and a strip wind-up arrangement(D). One opening receives the tubular sleeve, another forms an outlet for excess adhesive and the other incorporates a diverting roll(C).
