    Abstract: A process for the production of rigid polyurethane foam with improved thermodimensional stability and reduced thermal conductivity comprises reacting (a) polyisocyanates with (b) compounds with isocyanate-reactive hydrogen atoms in presence of (c) water and optionally (d) physical blowing agents and (e) catalysts and other additives etc. 60-100 wt% of component (b) consists of a polyol mixture containing (b1) a polyol obtained by addition of ethylene oxide (EO) and/or propylene oxide (PO) to a hexitol or hexitol mixture and (b2) a polyol obtained by addition of EO and/or PO to one or more aromatic amines, such that the total hexitol content and the total amine content of the polyol mixture is 15-30 wt% and 1-10 wt% respectively.

    Abstract: Emulsions containing polyether alcohols are used in the production of hard foams based on isocyanates to improve the temperature stability of the foams. Storage-stable halogen-free emulsions used in the production of hard foams based on isocyanates contain: (a) compounds containing hydrogen atoms reactive towards isocyanate groups; (b) water; (c) halogen-free propellants; and optionally (d) usual auxiliary aids and/or additives. (a) is used in an amount of 0.2-80 wt.% and has a functionality of more than 1.5, and an OH number of 10-100 mg KOH/g. (c) consists of 3-10 C hydrocarbons. Independent claims are also included for: (1) the production of the hard foams described; (2) the foams, and (3) the use of the polyether alcohols described.

    Abstract: Storage-stable emulsion, used in the manufacture of fine celled hard foamed materials, contains a polyester alcohol propellant of specified formula as emulsifier. (b) is emulsified in components (b) and (c). m = 0-15; n = 0-1; o = 0-15; p = 0-1; q = 0-15; r = 0-1; s = 0-15; t = 0-1; u = 0-10; v = 0-15; x = 1-5; y = 1-4 or mixtures between 1-3 with r + n is not 0; R1 = aliphatic structure based on the structure of multivalent alcohols, preferably ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol 1,2-propylene glycol, and dipropylene glycol; 1,4-butane diol, 1,6-hexane diol, neopentyl glycol, 1,3-butane diol, trimethylol propane, trimethylol ethane, glycerin, pentaerythrite; R2 = polycarboxylic acid without COOH groups, e.g. adipic acid, terephthalic acid, or o-phthalic acid; and R3 = alcohol as in R1.
