Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve a slippery characteristic and to lessen friction by using a nonmagnetic base body material and magnetic material powder in a binder contg. at least 50wt.% thermoplastic polyurethane as chief materials and using the specific plastic polyurethane. CONSTITUTION: This magnetic recording carrier consists of the nonmagnetic base body material and the magnetic material powder in the binder contg. at least 50wt.% thermoplastic polyurethane as the chief materials and has at least one layer of magnetic layers adhered and formed on a base body. In such a case, the thermoplastic polyurethane has 30 to 160 pieces and more particularly 40 to 80 pieces of OH groups and has a mol.wt. from 4000 to 30000 corresponding to a K value of 20 to 45 (measured as 1% soln. in DMF). As a result, the recording carrier having the improved wear resistance and decreased coefft. of friction is obtd.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To exhibit excellent stability to the deterioration of magnetic characteristics by forming a magnetic recording carrier of a nonmagnetic carrying material, polymer binder and magnetic material consisting of chromium dioxide as chief materials and forming a specific magnetizable layer on the carrying material. CONSTITUTION: This magnetic recording carrier is formed of the nonmagnetic carrying material, the polymer binder and the magnetic material consisting of the chromium dioxide as the chief materials and the magnetizable layer adhered on the carrying material. One kind of the org. compds. selected from a group consisting of steric hindrance phenol, cresol, arom. amine, benztriazole, triazine deriv., phosphorus-contg. acid ester, phenolic phosphate, its metal salt, benzophenone, substd. phenyl ester benzoate and thioacid alkyl ester are additionally incorporated into the magnetizable layer at 0.1 to 8wt.% of the weight of the chromium dioxide. As a result, the magnetic recording carrier exhibits the improved stability to the chemical decomposition by moisture and oxidative compds. without entailing the deterioration of the magnetic characteristics.
