Abstract:
PURPOSE: To make it possible to obtain various excellent mechanical characteristics by using specific polyurethane which is soluble in tetrahydrofuran, has no isocyanate groups, has side chains and has urea groups (plural) contg. OH groups at chain terminals as a binder. CONSTITUTION: The polyurethane which is soluble in the tetrahydrofuran, has no isocyanate groups, has the side chains, has the urea groups contg. the OH groups at the chain terminals and has a mol. wt. of 40000 to 2000000 is used as the thermoplastic polyurethane. The polyurethane formed in such a manner that the ratio of the OH groups of components A to C: the NCO groups of a component D: the amino groups of a component E are 1:1.03 to 1.3:0.03 to 0.3 from A. 1mol mixture composed of polydiol having a mol. wt. of 400 to 4000 and A2) polydiol having a mol. wt. exceeding 1400 of >=10 in the molar ratio of A1 to A2, B. 0.3 to 10mol mixture composed of arom. diol and B2) straight chain diol, C. 0.05 to 0.5mol tri- or polyol, D. 1.3 to 13mol diisocyanate, E. 0.09 to 2mol aminoalcohol is used. As a result, the binder which is excellent in a mechanical behavior is obtd.
Abstract:
A process for the production of magnetic recording media by applying a magnetic layer, which consists essentially of magnetic material finely dispersed in organic polymers, to one side of a flexible base, and applying a non-magnetizable backing coating which is free of inorganic solids to that side of the base which is opposite the magnetic layer, wherein the backing coating consists of two or more polymers which are incompatible with one another and have precipitated from a solvent mixture, and magnetic recording media produced by this process.

PURPOSE: To exhibit excellent stability to the deterioration of magnetic characteristics by forming a magnetic recording carrier of a nonmagnetic carrying material, polymer binder and magnetic material consisting of chromium dioxide as chief materials and forming a specific magnetizable layer on the carrying material. CONSTITUTION: This magnetic recording carrier is formed of the nonmagnetic carrying material, the polymer binder and the magnetic material consisting of the chromium dioxide as the chief materials and the magnetizable layer adhered on the carrying material. One kind of the org. compds. selected from a group consisting of steric hindrance phenol, cresol, arom. amine, benztriazole, triazine deriv., phosphorus-contg. acid ester, phenolic phosphate, its metal salt, benzophenone, substd. phenyl ester benzoate and thioacid alkyl ester are additionally incorporated into the magnetizable layer at 0.1 to 8wt.% of the weight of the chromium dioxide. As a result, the magnetic recording carrier exhibits the improved stability to the chemical decomposition by moisture and oxidative compds. without entailing the deterioration of the magnetic characteristics.
