Abstract: The invention relates to novel plasmid vectors for transformation of filamentous fungi and to a method of modifiying the genome of filamentous fungi based on these vectors. The invention furthermore relates to the modification of a specific gene via the process of homologous recombination, to recombinant expression of foreign genes in filamentous fungi and to new selection markers for detecting succesfull transfer of the target gene in filamentous fungi.

Abstract: The invention relates to the use of homoaconitase as a novel target for fungicides. The invention also relates to the identification and isolation o f the nucleic acid sequence SEQ ID No: 1 coding for the protein homoaconitase and the functional equivalents thereof, and to a method for identifying compounds having fungicidal action based on the above-mentioned nucleic acid sequences or the proteins coded by said sequences. The invention further relates to a transgenic organism containing the SEQ ID NO: 1 or a functional equivalent of the SEQ ID NO:l, which is characterised by increased lysine production compared to a non-transgenic fungus.
