Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a difunctionalized 6C-hydrocarbon by an economically excellent reaction path by subjecting one or more two kinds of specific olefins to self double decomposition or cross double decomposition in the presence of a homogeneous catalyst containing a specific ruthenium catalyst, etc. SOLUTION: A compound of the formula R-CH=CH-CH2-E and/or R1-CH= CH-CH2-E1 (E and E1 are each COOH or the like; R and R1 are each H, a 1-12C alkyl or the like) (e.g. 3-methyl pentenoate) is subjected to self double decomposition or cross double decomposition in the presence of a homogenous catalyst containing a ruthenium compound or a ruthenium complex to give a 6C compound of the formula E-CH2-CH=CH-CH2-E1 (e.g. methyl dehydroadipate). The catalyst used is preferably a ruthenium-alkylidene complex of the formula RuX'Y' (=CH-CH2R")L1L2 (X' and Y' are each an anionic ligand; R" is H, a 1-20C alkyl or the like; L1 and L2 are each an uncharged electron donor ligand).

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for the production of an olefin as a set of products by a 4C stream of a steam cracker or a refining apparatus. SOLUTION: This olefin production process comprises (A) a step to perform extractive distillation of butadiene from a 4C stream optionally using a butadiene-selective solvent, (B) a step to selectively hydrogenate butadiene and acetylene impurities in the 4C stream supplied from a steam cracker or a refiner or a stream of the step A and simultaneously isomerize at least a part of 1-butene to 2-butene, (C) a step to remove i-butene from the 4C stream and obtain an ether, (D) a step to remove oxygen-containing impurities from the 4C stream using an adsorbing material and (E) a step to perform the metathesis of butene in the 4C stream in two stages.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 5C- and/or 6C-olefins from 4C- olefins. SOLUTION: This method for producing 5C- and/or 6C-olefins from a 4C- olefinic starting substance flow comprises the following processes: (a) a metathesis reaction process where butene in the starting substance flow is converted into a mixture of 2C- to 6C-olefins with butane in the presence of a catalyst containing at least one of group VI b, VII b or VII transition metal compounds; (b) a process where the obtained reaction product flow is fractionated to discharge a fraction A comprising 2C- to 4C-olefins and butane, or comprising 2C- and 3C-olefins and to obtain a fraction comprising 4C- to 6C-olefins and butane; (c) a process for obtaining a fraction B comprising butene and butane, a fraction C comprising pentene and methylbutene and a fraction D comprising hexene and methylpentene by fractionation; and (d) a process for recirculating the whole or a part of the fraction B and/or the fraction C to the process (a) and for taking out the fraction D as a product.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound in high yield by subjecting butenes to the mutual reaction over a metathesis catalyst including a metal compound in the transition group in the element periodic table. SOLUTION: In the presence of a metathesis catalyst containing at least one of metal compounds in the transition groups VIb, VIIb, or VIII in the periodic table, 1-butene is allowed to react with butene-2, subsequently formed propene and 2-pentene are separated. Then, the 2-pentene is allowed to react with ethene in the presence of the metathesis catalyst, subsequently formed propene and 1-butene are separated. At least part of the 1-butene product is exhausted and/or at least part of the isolated 1-butene is isomerized over an isomerization catalyst to form 2-butene. Then, the remaining 1-butene, the formed 2-butene and a part of the unreacting C4 fraction are recycled thereby obtaining propene or a combination thereof with 1-butene.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing propene from a mixture comprising 1-butene, 2-butene and isobutene by which the propene can be obtained from a 4C hydrocarbon stream having a small 1-butene content and further the isobutene can be converted into the desired compound without using an excess amount of ethene and with the use of an extremely small amount of the ethene. SOLUTION: This method for producing propene comprises (a) a step for reacting 1-, 2-butene and isobutene in the presence of a metathesis catalyst containing one or more kinds of the group VIb, VIIb or VIII transition metals to provide propene and 2-pentene/2-methyl-2-butene, (b) a step for separating the formed propene and 2-pentene/2-methyl-2-butene, (c) a step for reacting 2-pentene and 2-methyl-2-butene with ethene in the presence of the metathesis catalyst containing one or more kinds of the group VIb, VIIb or VIII transition metals in the element periodic table to provide the propene and 1-butene/ isobutene, (d) a step for separating the formed propene and the 1-butene/ isobutene, and (e) a step for returning the separated 1-butene/isobutene to the step (a).
