Abstract: An isocyanate prepolymer mixture (I) containing urethane groups and reactive isocyanate (NCO) groups is claimed. It has an NCO content of 2.5-30 wt.% and is obtained by reacting (a) di- and/or polyisocyanate(s) with (b) a solution or emulsion containing (b-1) oligosaccharide(s) and/or polysaccharide(s), (b-2) non-aqueous solvent(s) reacting with (b-1) and optionally (b-3) polyhydroxyl compound(s). Also claimed is a method of producing compact or cellular polyurethane, especially polyurethane foam from (I), the polyurethane per se and mouldings of this polyurethane.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the production of rigid foams containing urethane or urethane and isocyanurate groups by reacting a) polyoxypropylene- or polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene-polyols containing secondary hydroxyl groups, having a functionality of from 3.5 to 4.3, a hydroxyl number of from 350 to 650 and a viscosity of from 500 to 2,500 mPa.s at 23 DEG C, prepared by anionic polymerisation of 1,2-propylene oxide or ethylene oxide and 1,2-propylene oxide onto an initiator molecule mixture containing, based on the total weight, a1) from 40 to 80 % by weight of hexanetetrols, a2) from 1 to 30 % by weight of hexanetriols, a3) from 0 to 35 % by weight of glycerol and a4) from 0 to 15 % by weight of sorbitol or mannitol or mixtures thereof, and b) optionally low-molecular-weight chain extenders and/or crosslinking agents with c) organic, optionally modified polyisocyanates, in the presence of d) blowing agents, e) catalysts and optionally f) assistants and/or additives, and to the polyoxypropylene-polyols and polyoxyethylene- polyoxypropylene-polyols which can be used for this purpose.
