Abstract:
Disclosed is a continuous method for treating the surface of metal strips. In said method, a surface property-modifying layer having a maximum thickness of 3 µm is applied by means of a device comprising at least one Fourier transform IR spectrometer which faces a coated side of the strip, operates using reflection geometry, and records IR spectroscopic measurement data of the applied surface property-modifying layer while the metal strip advances in order to characterize the surface.
Abstract:
A process of concentrating an aqueous suspension of solid particles, comprising the steps of, introducing the aqueous suspension of solid particles into a vessel, addition of at least one organic polymeric flocculant to the aqueous suspension of solid particles thereby forming flocculated solids, allowing the flocculated solids to settle to form a compression zone, comprising a bed of sedimented solids in suspension at the lower end of the vessel, flowing the sedimented solids from the vessel as an underflow stream, in which an effective amount of ultrasonic energy is applied to: a) the bed of solids at the compression zone; b) the sedimented solids in the underflow stream; or c) a recycle stream containing sedimented solids taken from either the underflow stream or the compression zone which are then recycled back to the vessel.
Abstract:

Abstract:
Compounds of the formulae: RO-X-NH2 (Ia); RO-X-NH3 + Y- (Ib); RO-X-NH-Z-NH2 (IIa); and RO-X-NH-Z-NH3 + Y- (IIb), in which X is an aliphatic alkylene group containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms; Z is an aliphatic alkylene group containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms; Y- is an anion; and R is an aliphatic iso C13H27- group with average branching degree ranging from 1.5 to 3.5. The compounds are particularly suitable as flotation collectors for enriching an iron mineral from a silicate-containing iron ore.
