Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a polybenzazol polymer (P) by reacting a reaction mixture (RG) which contains at least one aromatic dicarboxylic compound of general formula (I), at least one aromatic diamino compound of general formulae (IIa), (IIb), (IIc) and/or (IId) and at least one ionic liquid (IL).
