    Abstract: The invention relates to a light material containing wood having an average density in the region of between 200 to 600 kg/m, and which comprises, in relation to the material containing wood, A) 30 to 95% by wt. of wood particles, B) 1 to 25% by wt. of a filling material having a bulk density in the region of between 10 to 150 kg/m, selected from the group consisting of foamable plastic particles and already foamed plastic particles, C) 0.1 to 50% by wt. of a binding agent, and optionally, D) additives. Said claimed material containing wood is characterised by the following relation between the d' values in accordance with the Rosin-Rammler-Sperling-Bennet distribution of the wood particles (A) and the particles of the filling material (B): d' of the particles (A) ≤2,5 Œ d' of the particles (B).

    Abstract: Disclosed are light wood-based material products and which comprise: a) from 30 to 92.5% by weight, based on the wood-base material, of wood particles, the wood particles having a mean density of from 0.4 to 0.85 g/cm3; b) from 2.5 to 20% by weight, based on the wood-base material, of polystyrene and/or of styrene copolymer as a filler, the filler having a bulk density of from 10 to 100 kg/m3; and c) from 5 to 50% by weight, based on the wood-base material, of a binder; the mean density of the light wood-base material being less than or equal to 600 kg/m3. Further disclosed is a process for the production of a light wood-base material as defined above wherein said prefoamed polystyrene and/or styrene copolymers, binder and wood particles are mixed and subsequently moulded at elevated temperature and elevated pressure to give said wood-based material. Also disclosed is the use of the light wood-base materials as defined above for the production of pieces of furniture, of packaging materials, in house construction or in interior trim.

    Abstract: The invention relates to materials containing lignocellulose that have a core and two covering layers, containing and preferably consisting of, in said core: A) 30 to 98 wt.% of lignocellulose particles, B) 0 to 25 wt.% of expanded plastic particles with a bulk density in the range of 10 to 150 kg/m3, C) 1 to 50 wt.% of one or more binders selected from the group consisting of aminoplast resin, phenol formaldehyde resin, and organic isocyanate with at least two isocyanate groups, and D) 0 to 10 wt.% of additives, and, in said covering layers: E) 70 to 99 wt.% of lignocellulose-containing particles, fibres, or mixtures thereof, F) 1 to 30 wt.% of one or more binders selected from the group consisting of aminoplast resin, phenol formaldehyde resin and organic isocyanate with at least two isocyanate groups, and G) 0 to 10 wt.% of additives; with 2 to 30% of the lignocellulose particles A) being replaced with treated cellulose materials, treated natural fibres, synthetic fibres or mixtures thereof.
