Abstract: The present invention relates to a catalyst for the oxidation of hydrogen chloride to chlorine, wherein the catalyst comprises an inorganic carrier matrix and a zeolite, wherein the inorganic carrier matrix comprises Y, O, and optionally comprises X, wherein the zeolite comprises Y and O in its framework structure, and optionally comprises X in its framework structure, wherein Y is a tetravalent element and X is a trivalent element, wherein the inorganic carrier matrix and the zeolite are loaded with copper and with one or more rare earth metals, and wherein the zeolite is supported within the inorganic carrier matrix. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a molding comprising the catalyst, as well as to a process for the production of the catalyst and the molding, respectively, as well as to their respective use in a process for the oxidation of hydrogen chloride to chlorine.

Abstract: The present invention provides a process of producing hydrogen comprising introducing methane and/or other light hydrocarbons into a reaction chamber and reacting said gases in said reaction chamber in a bed of solid carbonaceous materials to give hydrogen, wherein said carbonaceous materials are macro-structured carbonaceous materials, wherein the porosity of the carbonaceous material is in the range of 30 to 70 vol.-% and the carbonaceous material contains a content of carbon of 99 wt.-% to 100 wt.-% and a content of alkaline-earth metals, transition metals and metalloids of 0 and 1 wt.-% in relation to the total mass of the solid carbonaceous material, wherein the iron content is between 0 and 0.5 wt.-%, the magnesium content is between 0 and 0.005 wt.-%, the manganese content is between 0 and 0.01 wt.-%, the silicon content is between 0 and 0.01 wt.-% and the nickel content is between 0 and 0.025 wt.-%. In addition, the present invention provides the use of said carbonaceous materials as carrier material in bed reactors.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a four-way conversion catalyst for the treatment of an exhaust gas stream of a gasoline engine, the catalyst comprising a porous wall-flow filter substrate comprising an inlet end, an outlet end, a substrate axial length extending between the inlet end and the outlet end, and a plurality of passages defined by porous internal walls of the porous wallflow filter substrate, wherein the plurality of passages comprise inlet passages having an open inlet end and a closed outlet end, and outlet passages having a closed inlet end and an open outlet end, wherein the interface between the passages and the porous internal walls is defined by the surface of the internal walls; wherein the porous internal walls comprise pores which comprise an oxidic component comprising a first refractory metal oxide, said first refractory metal oxide comprising aluminum, said oxidic component having a platinum group metal content in the range of from 0 to 0.001 weight-% based on the total weight of the oxidic component; wherein the catalyst further comprises a first three-way conversion catalytic coating, at least weight-% thereof being comprised in the pores of the internal walls, said first three-way conversion catalytic coating comprising an oxygen storage compound and a platinum group metal supported on a second refractory metal oxide.

Abstract: A method for producing carbon monoxide comprises allowing carbon-providing particles to flow downwardly under gravity flow as a particle bed through a reaction zone; heating the particles in the reaction zone to a temperature of at least 800 °C; feeding a feed gas stream comprising carbon dioxide through the reaction zone in counter current to the particles flow, whereby carbon-depleted particles are obtained; withdrawing the carbon-depleted particles from the reaction zone; and withdrawing a product gas stream comprising carbon monoxide from the reaction zone. The process allows for improved heat integration.
