Abstract:
The invention relates to the use of oligomeric carbodiimides containing at least one heterocyclic end group as stabilizers for polymers. The oligomeric carbodiimides can be compounds of the general formula (I), in which A1, A2 are identical or different and represent hydrocarbon groups with 2 to 20 carbon atoms independently of each other; B1, B2 are identical or different and represent heterocycles, C1-C30 alcohols, poyletherols, polyesterols, amines, polyetheramines, polyesteramines, thioalcohols, polyetherthiols, polyesterthiols independently of each other; R1, R2 are identical or different and represent (A) independently of each other; and n represents a whole number ranging from 2 to 100; wherein A1, A2, B1 and B2 can each be substituted with C1-C20 alkyl, C2-C20 alkenyl, C2-C20 alkinyl, C1-C20 alkoxy, carbonyl oxygen (=O), or halogen at any position with the proviso that at least one substituent of B1 or B2 is a heterocyclic end group. The invention further relates to methods for stabilizing polymers against hydrolysis using oligomeric carbodiimides.

The present invention relates to a process for producing composite materials which consist essentially of a) at least one oxidic phase and b) at least one organic polymer phase, by copolymerizing - at least one compound A selected from aryloxy metallates, aryloxy semimetallates and aryloxy esters of non-metals which form oxo acids and are different from carbon and nitrogen, with - at least one compound B selected from formaldehyde and formaldehyde equivalents, in a reaction medium which is essentially anhydrous, the compound B being used in an amount such that the molar ratio of formaldehyde to the aryloxy groups in the compound A is at least 0.9:1.
Abstract:
The invention relates to aqueous compositions containing a) at least one polymer PALK in the form of dispersed polymer particles, wherein the polymer PALK can be obtained by the ring-opening metathesis polymerization of at least one cyclic olefin monomer and b) at least one polymer P2 in the form of dispersed polymer particles, wherein the polymer P2 does not have an olefenically unsaturated C-C bond and has repeating units which have at least one polar group. The aqueous compositions are suitable in particular for producing films and barrier coatings which have a very good barrier effect against gases such as air, oxygen, nitrogen, argon, and carbon dioxide, in particular against oxygen and oxygen-containing gases such as air. At the same time, the films and coatings have very good mechanical properties, in particular a high elongation at break while having a good tear strength.

Uso de un copolímero para reducir la permeabilidad a los gases de material de caucho, en el que el copolímero se puede preparar mediante polimerización de metátesis con apertura de anillo de a) por lo menos un primer monómero de olefina seleccionado del grupo que consiste en monómeros de olefina cíclica con por lo menos un doble enlace C-C endocíclico, en donde en una posición alfa con respecto al doble enlace no está presente ningún átomo de carbono terciario que lleve un átomo de hidrógeno, y b) por lo menos un segundo monómero de olefina seleccionado del grupo que consiste en monómeros de olefina cíclica con un doble enlace C-C endocíclico, en donde en por lo menos una posición alfa con respecto al doble enlace está presente un átomo de carbono terciario que lleva un átomo de hidrógeno, en donde el copolímero está oxidado al menos en parte, y en donde el copolímero no está preparado, o lo está con menos del 1 % en moles con respecto a la suma de los monómeros, a partir de monómeros de olefina policíclica con al menos dos dobles enlaces C-C.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a mixture containing at least one multi functional chain extender with at least three reactive groups as well as at least one monofunctional or difunctional hydrolytic stabiliser said chain extender and hydrolytic stabilisers reacting with the end groups of polymers when the polymers are in a melted or solid state with a chemical bond being formed. The invention also relates to the use of such mixtures as stabilisers for polymers and to a method for the stabilisation of polymers against losses in molecular weight in which an effective amount of such a mixture is added to the polymer.
Abstract:
The use of a certain copolymer is described for reducing the gas-permeability of rubber material. A rubber material provided with a barrier material in the form of the copolymer is also described. The copolymer can be produced via ring-opening metathesis polymerization of a) one first olefin monomer selected from the group consisting of cyclic olefin monomers having at least one endocyclic C-C double bond, where no tertiary carbon atom bearing a hydrogen atom is present in alpha-position to the double bond, and b) one second olefin monomer selected from the group consisting of cyclic olefin monomers having one endocyclic C-C double bond, where a tertiary carbon atom bearing a hydrogen atom is present in at least one alpha-position to the double bond, where the copolymer has been oxidized at least to some extent, where the amount of polycyclic olefin monomers used to produce the copolymer with at least two C-C double bonds is zero or less than 1 mol%, based on the entirety of the monomers.
