Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject high-quality material, excellent in film-forming properties and having homogeneous weight and thickness distribution in a short time by controlling a current value in electrolytic polymerization versus time. CONSTITUTION:(A) A monomer for electrolytic polymerization, such as aniline or pyrrole, is dissolved in (B) an organic solvent, such as acetonitrile, and (D) a salt, such as LiBF4, is added to provide an electrolytic polymerization solution, which is then placed in an electrolytic cell. (E) A polymerization electrode (e.g. platinum) and a counter electrode (e.g. gold) are dipped therein to afford preferably 50muA/cm to 3mA/cm current density in the initial stage of the polymerization and then increase the current density at 0.1-1mA/cm per sec. The above-mentioned monomer is finally reacted preferably at 10-120mA/cm current density to afford the objective high polymer material.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To deposit uniformly an org. polymer material on a polymn. electrode by clamping the polymn. electrode by using a supply electrode connected to an electric source and an elastic supporting member and carrying out electrolytic polymn. when the org. polymer material is deposited on the polymn. electrode by electrolytic polymn. CONSTITUTION:A polymn. electrode 6 and a counter electrode 9 are placed in an electrolytic bath 1 and the polymn. electrode 6 is clamped by means of a supply electrode 8 connected to an electric source 12 and an elastic supporting member 4 (e.g., a rubber material). An electrolytic polymn. liq. 2 is fed in the electrolytic bath 1 and an org. polymer film (e.g., polyaniline sheet) is deposited and formed on the polymn. electrode 6 by electrolytic polymn. The contact between the supply electrode 8 and the polymn. electrode 6 can be thereby surely uniformized by the elasticity of the elastic supporting member 4 and therefore the fluctuation of the electric voltage on the surface of the polymn. electrode 6 caused by the fluctuation of contact resistance between the supply electrode 8 and the polymn. electrode 6 can be reduced and an org. polymer material can be, thus uniformly deposited on the polymn. electrode 6.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a battery having good performance such as low internal resistance and long cycle life by using polyaniline, to which electrochemical reduction treatment is applied in nonaqueous electrolyte, in a positive electrode as positive active material. CONSTITUTION:When polyaniline is produced in electrochemical process, usually aqueous solution is used. If this polyaniline is used as it is in a nonaqueous electrolyte battery as positive active material, the internal resistance of the battery is high and the performance such as cycle life is not good. By previously applying electrochemical reduction treatment to polyaniline in nonaqueous solution and controlling the reduction potential to 2.0-3.0 V (V.S Li /Li), the internal resistance of the battery using this polyaniline as the positive active material is reduced and the cycle life is increased.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To facilitate the checking of the charged state and the discharged state of a power source and to reduce the space for the power source, in the combination power source of a solar battery and a secondary battery, by using conductive macromolecular material, desirably polyaniline, for at least one electrode of the secondary battery. CONSTITUTION:In a power source, wherein a solar battery and a secondary battery are combined, conductive macromolecular material is used for the electrodes of the secondary battery. In this battery, doping and un-doping reactions are generally utilized for electrode reaction. Therefore, the battery voltage and the doping state, i.e., the battery voltage and the battery capacity, are in corresponding relationship. Even if irradiation conditions on the solar battery are changed into any state, the charged or discharged state of the secondary battery can be checked based on the voltage. Above all, the secondary battery, in which polyaniline is used for the electrodes, is desirable by the following reasons: polyaniline has a large capacity per active material, repetition property of charge and discharge is excellent; polyaniline has oxidation resisting property to some extent; and the battery is advantageous in handling work.

CONSTITUTION:In an electrolytic cell in which a polymerization electrode 4 part of the surface of which is masked with an insulating substance 3 (e.g., a plastic tape such as vinyl tape having a tackifier layer on one side) which can not be dissolved in or deteriorated by a polymerization solution 2 and a counter electrode 5 are set in lower and upper positions in nearly horizontal directions, the polymerization solution 2 (e.g., aniline) is electrolytically polymerized under conditions in which the surface area of an electrode 4 is nearly equal to that of an electrode 5, the distance between the cathode and the anode is larger, the temperature of the electrolyte which is the polymerization solution 3 is -40-30 deg.C, the current density on the side on which an organic polymeric film is deposited is 50mA/cm or below, and agitation of the electrolyte, which might form or increase polymer flock, is not performed to deposit the title material on only a nonmasked surface of the electrode 4.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the discharge capacity per volume when used as an electrode material of battery or photocell by forming polyaniline having fibrous structure in which a mean diameter of fiber is 0.8mum or more. CONSTITUTION:Polyaniline has fibrous structure in which fibers are randomly intertwined and a mean diameter of fiber is 0.8mum or more. Since polyaniline having fibrous structure has high bulk density such as 0.3-0.9g/cm , even when it is used without compression as the electrode material of a battery, discharge capacity per volume is increased and a battery which is compact but has large discharge capacity can be obtained. A mean diameter of fiber is 0.8mum or more, preferably 1-5mum, especially 1-2mum, and by using polyaniline having these fibers, the performance of a battery is further increased. Polyaniline having a mean diameter of 1mum or more has a bulk density of 0.35-0.9g/cm , and it is suitable as electrode material for battery.
