Abstract: An electrically conductive flexible polyurethane foam having fine and homogeneous cells, being low in swelling by water and superior in dimensional stability can be prepared by mixing an isocyanate terminated urethane prepolymer holding isocyanate monomers therein prepared by reacting polyether polyol(s) holding poly(oxypropylene) chains and not more than 30 weight% of poly(oxyethylene) chains therein with a stoichiometrically excessive amount of an isocyanate component with an aqueous dispersion of electrically conductive carbon particles containing water in excess of the stoichiometric amount necessary to react with the isocyanate monomers in the urethane prepolymer and foaming the mixture in a closed mold having a capacity smaller than the volume of a foam which can be obtained by conducting the foaming of the said mixture of the urethane prepolymer and the aqueous dispersion of electrically conductive carbon particles freely under atmospheric pressure.

Abstract: A polyolefin foam sheet is made using additionally a resin varnish (e.g. rosin, shellac, alkyd, phenolic or coumarone-indene resins) which can be coated onto the foamable base sheet before heating to foam it, and/or incorporated into the polyolefin resin composition of the base sheet, and/or coated onto the sheet after foaming. The use of such varnish may confer good thermal resistance and surface wettability of the resulting foamed sheet.

Abstract: A method producing a low-density flexible polyurethane foam comprising stirring a starting mixture containing a polyhydroxy compound, a polyisocyanate, a foaming agent and a catalyst to thereby foam the mixture, in which a foaming agent selected from the group consisting of water, formic acid and its salts is used in an amount of at least 10% by weight as water equivalent per 100 parts by weight of the polyhydroxy compound, and the mixture is stirred at 15 DEG C. or below by previously adjusting the temperature of the mixture to 15 DEG C. or below and under a highly catalytic activity.

Abstract: A process for producing asphalt-blended polyurethane foams which comprises introducing starting foaming materials for polyurethane foams containing a polyoxyalkylene polyol and an organic isocyanate either as respective individual ingredients or as a prepolymer into an agitation mixing chamber of a foaming apparatus, while introducing a previously heated and melted asphalt into the agitation mixing chamber of the foaming apparatus, mixing the starting foaming material for the polyurethane foams and the heated and melted asphalt and then foaming them. Asphalt-blended polyurethane foams can be obtained simply and efficiently and they are excellent in general physical properties, sound/vibration characteristics and are suitable as sealing materials and sound-proofing or vibration-damping materials.

Abstract: A process for producing a flexible polyurethane foam by reacting a polyhydroxy compound and a polyisocyanate compound in the presence of a blowing agent. The polyhydroxy compound is one in which an aldehyde condensation polymer has been formed by polycondensation and dispersed such that it accounts for, preferably, from 5 to 30 wt% of the total amount of the polyhydroxy compound, and adding as a flame retardant a melamine powder preferably in an amount of from 5 to 100 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of polyhydroxy compound. The resulting foams combine good flame retardance with high hardness and compressive strength.
