Abstract: A gripping head for pieces of lipstick or the like, gripping by means of the inflation of a tube (5). An inlet (2) for the operating fluid is formed on top of the body (1), through which body (1) run passageways (4) for the operating fluid. An outer cylinder (7) fixed to the body contains the body (1) and the inflatable tube (5). The inflatable tube (5) is fixed either to the outer lower end of the cylinder (7) and to the body (1), or to the upper and lower ends of the body (1). Pieces are gripped when the tube (5) is inflated inwards when a fluid such as air is supplied, either into the space between cylinder (7) and tube (5) or into the space within the tube (5), via the inlet (2) and the passageways (4).

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make compact the whole structure of a gripping device and eliminate risk of breaking an elastic inflating body by caulking the two ends of a base through folding inward, and thereby fixing the two ends of the inflating body. CONSTITUTION:A gripping device for parts, etc., has a hollow base 1 in cylindrical form and an elastic inflating body 2 which is installed at the bore of the base 1 and whose two ends are fixed to the base 1, and the inflating body 2 is constructed expansive by injecting a fluid from a supply/exhaust port 4 into an enclosed space 3 bounded by the bore of the base 1 and the inflating body 2. The inflating body 2 is fixed to the base 1 by caulking the ends 1A, 1B of the base 1 upon folding inward. Accordingly the overall outside diameter D becomes smaller than in any conventional arrangement, and even though a work is to be inserted in the inflating body 2, the corner of the work does not contact the inflating body 2 but runs against either of the folded ends 1A, 1B of the base 1 to prevent breakage of the inflating body 2.
