    Abstract: A method of simulating noise generated by a tire using a computer (10), wherein waveforms of the sounds are determined, considering the phase, of which sounds originate from sources of sound, namely, a leading edge (28) which is an edge of the load-supporting portion (24) of the tread and first contacts the road surface when the tire rotates, and a trailing edge (30) positioned opposite to the leading edge. The so-determined waveforms of the sound are integrated over the entire surface of the tread, after that, audible sound of the integrated waveforms is emitted from a headphone (16) as tire-noise.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To secure drainage capacity and improve noise characteristics, by equipping a tire with a circumference main groove in the center zone of a wide tread part having an aspect ratio equal to or less than a specified value, circumference sipes dividing both side zones from the center zone, and blocks, and by causing these sipes to contribute toward the formation of the blocks. CONSTITUTION: A circumference main groove 1 is formed in the center zone C of a wide tread part T having an aspect ratio equal to or less than 0. 8 along its perimeter while inclined main grooves 2, 2', which extend crossing a tire meridian line m, are formed in side zones S, S' between which the center zone C is sandwiched. Further, circumference sipes 3, 3' are cut, along the circumference of the tread part T, in positions dividing the side zones S, S' from the center zone C, while inclined sipes 4, 4' are cut which extend from the circumference sipes 3, 3' toward side ends e, e', crossing the inclined main grooves 2, 2'. Along with this, land parts of the side zones S, S' are divided by the inclined main grooves 2, 2' or the circumference sipes 3, 3' and by the inclined sipes 4, 4', to form blocks 5, 5'. Drainage capacity is thereby maintained even under a wet and high-speed traveling condition, and at the same time noises can be reduced.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce a pattern noise without any loss of water drainage quality by constituting peripheral grooves with a plurality of groove width elements connected to each other, and setting the length of a large groove width area to be larger than the length of a peripheral ground plane at the time of a travel. CONSTITUTION:Peripheral grooves 1 to 5 alternately connect wide areas 1A to 5A, and small width areas 1B to 5B, and cause respective groove width variation points 1C to 5C to form a peripheral phase difference from each other. Also, the length of the wide areas 1A to 5A is so set as to be larger than the peripheral length (ground plane length) L of a ground plane 9. Furthermore, a ratio of the groove width of the small width arears 1B to 5B, to the groove width of the wide areas 1A to 5A, is set to 40 to 60%. According to the aforesaid construction, a pattern noise can be prevented without impairing water drainage quality.
