    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic unit which can automatically recognize the capacity of a storage device without complicating circuit constitution. SOLUTION: Two different types of storage capacities with 1M bit and 2M bits are prepared for EEPROM 12. Either one is installed on the electronic unit in accordance with a user target. When the recording switch 1a of a key input part 1 is depressed, a final address for maximum capacity, a final address for 2M bits in this case, is designated for EEPROM 12. Then, the presence or absence of an ACK signal from EEPROM 12 for the designation of the pertinent final address is discriminated. When the ACK signal is outputted from EEPROM 12, it is discriminated to be EEPROM of 2M bits. When the ACK signal is not outputted, it is judged to be EEPROM of 1M bit.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device enabling emphasis of the relation between a face image and characters, various change of an expression of the face image and also improvement of visibility by a simple construction and an easy control. SOLUTION: In a basic clock mode, the contour of a portrait is displayed in a segment area 20a, while 'eye' and a 'mouth' corresponding to data on physical conditions are displayed in a dot matrix area 20b. In a data base mode, characters (name) relating to a person corresponding to the portrait and information on the displayed data are displayed, together with the contour of the portrait, in the dot matrix area 20b in accordance with an operating mode so as to emphasize the relation between the portrait and the characters. In a game mode, besides, data on different expressions are displayed one after another in the dot matrix area 20b and the display is stopped at the portrait having been displayed at the start of a game so that gaming properties be obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To accurately obtain the moving speed in all speed range without influence of the high or low moving speed of a moving body in a speed measuring apparatus for calculating the moving speed of the body which moves upon rotation of wheels. CONSTITUTION: When a front wheel rotation detection signal (a) supplied from a transmitter 6 to the receiving circuit 27 of a receiver 7 and a traveling time (t) of one revolution of the front wheel to be detected based on a clock signal from a clock circuit 28 are judged at a predetermined time or more to be sufficiently accurately detected by a controller 25, a traveling speed is calculated based on the time (t) of one revolution of the front wheel and a traveling distance L of the one revolution of the front wheel responsive to the tire size stored in a RAM 30, and displayed on a liquid crystal display unit 11. When it is judged that the time (t) of the one revolution of the front wheel is less than predetermined time, the speed is calculated based on the number of revolutions of the front wheel detected per predetermined time T and the distance L of the one revolution of the front wheel, and displayed on the unit 11.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the time of a time counting circuit from becoming inconsistent with the timer completion expected time by prohibiting the action to correct the time data of the time counting circuit into the received time data during the operation of a timer means reporting after a prescribed period elapses. The radio wave correction process, i.e., the process to correct the prevent time data of the counting circuit 7 based on the reception time code TC, is not implemented during the timer operation via the timer circuit 14 even just at a certain o'clock.

    SOLUTION: A communication timing control means is provided in the electronic timepiece, and a communication interval by the radio communication means and an operation period are set to have the same period, and control is performed so that communication timings (e2-t2) by the radio communication means are not overlapped on driving timings (e1-l1, s1-u1) of a pointer. When performing a heavy-load processing such as quick forwarding operation (m1-q1), the communication interval is changed by transmitting communication interval changing information to the cellular phone.
