Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an overload of an electric load inserted between a feeder line and a control switch accurately by providing a feedback block, being inserted along with input and output terminals, between the output terminal of a circuit and the input terminal of a following logic block. SOLUTION: A circuit 1 detects an overload of an electric load Z1 inserted between a feeder line AL and a control switch S and includes a feedback block R, being inserted along with input and output terminals, between the output terminal OUT and the input of a following logic block D. The block D also includes an OR type logic gate P1 and an AND type logic gate P2 and the block R also includes a reference voltage E3 and a threshold comparator C3. It is controlled by the block D having inputs connected with the output terminals of threshold comparators C1, C2 of an output transistor T1. Peak value of the voltage Va is about 400V when the spark is not present and about 250V when the spark is present.

CONSTITUTION: This control circuit possesses means R1, R2, and 18 for limiting the load current flowing to the switch, and clocking and control circuits 11, 12, and 13, and guarantees to turn off a switch slowly with a specified delay, when it reaches the maximum load current value regardless of the duration of command pulses, whereby it keeps the power diffusion through the switch in load current limiting phase, moreover keeps the turn off overvoltage on or under a specified level.

A P-type screen region 22 extends from the surface to the region 14 formed into interdigital form, and put among each interconnected region 16 and 17, and the outer periphery of the emitter region 14, and connected to a contact region 17A, extending from the surface to the outer peripheral part of the emitter region 14, with a conductive contact means 23 at the surface.

The collector region of the bipolar transistor and the drain region of the MOSFET transistor are adjacent to each other and of the same conduction type, so that the conductivity of the drain region is lowered under the effects of the conduction state of the bipolar transistor.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To protect a circuit from a fault due to a negative overvoltage by sensing a negative voltage traversing a power source to make a limiter of the voltage, which is applied across a power unit, usable. CONSTITUTION: When a negative overvoltage Vb occurs, it cuts off a transistor TR T6 because power is not supplied through a resistor R3. Since a TR T4 has the base connected to a node CL by series resistors R1 and R2, this TR enters into the conductive state. Then, the emitter of the TR T4 switches output Darlington TRS T1 and T2 to the turning-on state to limit its collector voltage, namely, the voltage traversing the node CL. Thus, the circuit is protected from a fault due to the negative overvoltage Vb.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a control circuit which is capable of limiting a consumed electric power by a method wherein the control circuit is equipped with a first amplifier driven by a base current, a second amplifier driven by an emitter current, and a means which responds to an output current difference between the above amplifiers, and the ratio of the emitter current to the base current is kept constant. CONSTITUTION: A control circuit is possessed of a generator 8 which generates a base current IB for a power device 2 and equipped with a first amplifier 10 driven by the base current IB, a second amplifier 12 driven by the emitter current IE of the above power device 2, and a means 13 which responds to an output current difference between the output current I1 of the first amplifier 10 and the output current I2 of the second amplifier 12, and the responsive means 13 acts on the current generator 8 so as to keep the output currents I1 and I2 equal to each other, whereby the base current IB is so controlled as to keep the ratio of the emitter current IE of the above power device 2 to the base current IB constant. For instance, the above power device 2 is of Darlington constitution and connected to an inductive load 6 in series.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To surely enable setting a transistor itself to be protected, to a value lower than its ignition threshold by providing automatic commutating means between the base of the transistor and the collectors of power devices, and when the collector voltage of a power device drops from a preset value, generating currents associated with lower voltage drops between the base and collectors. CONSTITUTION: Automatic commutating means QP1 and QP2, which generate currents associated with low-voltage drops between the base of a transistor Q2 to be protected and collectors of power devices Q3 and Q4, when the collector voltage of a power device 1 drops from a preset value are provided between the base and collectors. When the collector voltage Vc of the device 1 drops from a preset value, a current having a small value and associated with a low-voltage drop flows to the collector of the device 1 from the base of the transistor Q2 through the means QP1 and QP2, so as to maintain the base/emitter voltage of the transistor Q2 at a value which is not higher than the conducting threshold of the transistor Q2. Therefore, the transistor Q2 to be protected is surely protected, so as to automatically set the transistor Q2 to a value lower than its ignition threshold.
