    Abstract: Sulphur-contg. organosilicon cpds. Z-Alk-Sn-Alk-Z (I) (where Z =Si(R1)(R1)(R2) - Si(R1)(R2)(R2) or -Si(R2)(R2)(R2), R1 = 1-4C alkyl or phenyl, R2 = 1-8C (esp. 1-4C) alkyl or 5-8C cycloalkyl or 1-8C straight or branched alkylmercapto gp. Alk = opt. unsatd. straight or branched opt. cyclic 1-18C (esp. 1-6C or pref. 2 or 3C) hydrocarbon gp. and n = 2-6) are prepd. by reacting 2 mols. of a cpd. Z-alk-Hal where Hal = Cl, Br or I with 1 mol. of a cpd. Me2Sn in which Me = ammonium or metal atom, esp. alkali metal such as Na, pref. in an org. solvent such as acetone or an alcohol, at elevated temps. followed by filtering off the metal halide formed and distillation of the solvent under reduced pressure to leave the (I) as residue.

    Abstract: Shaped bodies of a molecular sieve zeolite having an improved mechanical hardness greater than 5 kp are produced by spraying an unstable silicic acid sol as the binder on to a zone of the rotating plate of a granulating device and concurrently applying the pulverized zeolite particles to another zone of the rotating plate, while avoiding the formation of a plastic mass, and the thus produced shaped bodies are dried and activated according to the disclosed process. The unstable silicic acid sol has a silicic acid content greater than 10 percent by weight and a BET surface greater than 150 m2/g.

    Abstract: 1277592 Germanium dioxide DEUTSCHE GOLDUND SILBER-SCHEIDEANSTALT 4 Sept 1969 [20 Sept 1968] 43879/69 Heading C1A Amorphous highly dispersed germanium dioxide is prepared by reacting a volatile tetravalent germanium compound or a sprayable solution thereof under hydrolysing or oxidizing conditions in the gas phase or as an aerosol at a temperature above 1300‹ C., allowing the germanium dioxide formed to coagulate at a temperature of from 200‹ to 1000‹ C., and separating the gaseous reaction products. The germanium compound is preferably a halide or a volatile organo-germanium compound. The reaction is preferably carried out at a temperature of from 1400‹ to 1700‹ C. using a fuel gas of high calorific value with a free oxygen containing gas or pure oxygen, the mixture being reacted after passage through a nozzle. The germanium dioxide formed is preferably coagulated and separated at a temperature of from 400‹ to 700‹ C.
