Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound in a shorter time than the cases with prior arts. SOLUTION: This compound, a bis(silylorganyl)-polysulfane of formula I: (R R R SiR )2 SX, is obtained by reaction between a haloalkyl alkoxysilane or haloalkoxysilane of formula II: R R R SiR and a polysulfide of formula III: M2 SX. In this case, in the 1st process, a dehydrated polysulfide is produced from the polysulfide of formula III at 60-300 deg.C under a vacuum by reaction of a crystal water-contg. sulfide hydrate with sulfur. In the above, R , R and R are each a 1-8C branched or non-branched alkyl and/or alkoxy (in this case, there exists at least one alkoxy group) or an aryl group (esp. phenyl, toluyl or benzyl); R is a 1-8C (pref. 1-4C) divalent alkylidene group or (CH2 )n -C6 H4 -(CH2 )n ((n) is 1-4); (x) is a number larger than 1 (pref. 2-8); X is a halogen atom such as Cl, Br or I; M is an alkali metal cation, semialkaline earth metal cation or zinc cation.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound in high selectivity and in high yield under suppression of undesired side-reactions by adding a specific allyl compound to a specific silane in the presence of a specific catalyst under specific conditions. SOLUTION: The addition reaction of an allyl compound of the formula: H2C=CH-CH2X (X is Cl, Br, I or the like), for example, allyl chloride to a silane of the formula: R2R3R4SiH (R2-R4 are each H, a halogen, a 1-6C alkyl or the like) (preferably trichlorosilane) is carried out at 0-200 deg.C and at 200 millibar - 10 bar, preferably in the presence of a multielement catalyst supported on a carrier, for example, activated carbon, in which one of these elements is platinum, to give the objective three-functional compound (3- chloropropyltrichlorosilane). The other elements in the multielement catalyst are preferably Ti or the like and the molar ratios of the platinum to other elements on the carrier are preferably 0.05/1-20/1.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a propylsilane functionalized at the third position by reacting hydrogensilane with an allyl compound under the catalytic action of platinum. SOLUTION: A propylsilane functionalized at the third position is produced by the addition reaction of an allyl compound of the formula: H2C=CH-CH2X (X is Cl, Br, I, F, CN, SCN, SH, SR, OH, NRR1 or OR; R and R are each a 1-6C alkyl or a 3-7C aryl) with a silane of the formula: R2R3R4SiH [R2 to R4 are each H, a halogen, a 1-6C alkyl, a 1-6C haloalkyl, a 3-6C allyl, a 1-4C alkoxy, phenyl, an aryl or an aralkyl] at the reaction temperature of 0-200 deg.C and 800 mbar to 5 bar in the presence of a platinum catalyst having at least one kind of ligands containing sulfur.

Abstract: A supported multi-element catalyst in which one of the elements is platinum is used as catalyst in a process for the production of 3-function-alised propylsilanes by reacting functional allyl compounds (e.g. allyl halides or allylamines) with organosilanes containing at least one hydrogen attached to silicon. A process for the production of 3-functionalised propylsilanes involves the addition reaction of allyl compounds of formula H2C=CH-CH2X (IV) with silanes of formula R R R SiH (V), in which X = Cl, Br, I, F, CN, SCN, SH, SR, OH, NRR or OR; R, R = 1-6C alkyl or 3-7C alkyl (sic); R -R = H, halogen, 1-6C alkyl or haloalkyl, 3-6C allyl, 1-4C alkoxy, phenyl, aryl or aralkyl , at 0-200 deg C and 0.2-10 bar in presence of a supported multi-element catalyst in which one element is platinum.

An Independent claim is also included for the use of (IV) in this addition reaction.
