    Abstract: The present invention provides a process for processing silicon-dioxide-containing air-borne waste fines from the production of metallic silicon and silicon alloys to a crystalline type A molecular sieve, in which in step I the air-borne waste fines are dissolved in alakli metal hydroxide solution at temperatures in the range from 60 to 110.degree.C while alkali metal silicate solution having a modulus (SiO2 : MeI2O) in the range from 2.0 : 1 to 3.5 : 1 is formed, in step II the alkali metal silicate solution thus obtained is freed from organic components by treatment with active carbon and/or oxidizing agents and that the nondecomposable residue is separated from the solution, and in step III the alkali metal aluminate solution is reacted at room temperature with the dilute purified alkali metal silicate solution obtained according to the steps I and II and having a modulus (SiO2 : Na2O) from 2.0 : 1 to 3.5 : 1, whereupon the reaction mixture ((2.0-4.4) Na2O : A12O3, (1.3-1.8) SiO2 : (90120) H2O) is crystallized at temperatures of 90 to 95.degree.C for 6 to 12 hours, followed by filtering washing to pH values of 10 to 11 and drying in order to obtain crystalline zeolitic type-A molecular sieve having a whiteness degree according to BERGER ranging from 90 to 95% at 460 m.mu..

    Abstract: The present invention provides a process for processing to silicas and silicates silicon-dioxide-containing air-borne waste fines obtained from the production of silicon metal and silicon alloys which comprises the following steps: I. dissolving the air-borne waste fines to form alkali metal silicate solutions having a high molar ratio (SiO2:Me 1/2 O), (Me being alkali metal) at temperatures ranging from 60 to 110.degree.C, II. purifying the alkali metal silicate solutions from organic constituents by treatment with at least one of active carbon and oxidizing agents and separating the non-decomposed residue from the solution, and III. reacting the alkali metal silicate solution with at least one of inorganic or organic acids and salts of aluminium, magnesium and calcium at temperatures ranging from approximately 60 to 110.degree.C in the pH range from approximately 1 to 12, subsequently filtering, washing and drying the filter-cake dough and comminuting the filter cake granulate to obtain finely divided, amorphous pure silicas and silicates having a whiteness degree according to Degen ranging from 90 to 95% and specific surface-area values according to BET in the range from 30 to 800 sq m per gram.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a process for processing silicon-dioxide-containing air-borne waste fines from the production of metallic silicon or silicon alloys to a crystalline zeolitic type-Y molecular sieve, in which in step I the air-borne waste fines are dissolved in alkali-metal-hydroxide solution at temperatures in the interval from 60 to 110.degree.C while alkalimetal-silicate solution having a modulus (SiO2 : MeI2O) in the range from 4.0 : 1 to 5.0 : 1 is formed, in step II the alkalimetal-silicate solution thus obtained is freed from organic components by treatment with at least one of active carbon and oxidizing agents and that the non-decomposable residue is separated from the solution, and in step III the alkali-metal-aluminate solution is reacted at room temperature with the dilute purified alkali-metal silicate solution obtained according to the steps I and II and having a modulus (SiO2 : Na2O) from 4.0:1 to 5.0:1, whereupon the reaction mixture (SiO2 : Al2O3 = 4-7, Na2O : SiO2 = 0.4 - 0.7, H2O : Na2O = 30-50) is crystallized at temperatures from 75 to 100.degree.C for 8 to 48 hours while stirring, followed by filtering, washing and drying in order to obtain a zeolitic type-Y molecular sieve having a faujasite structure and a whiteness degree according to BERGER ranging from 90 -to 94% at 460 m.mu..
