    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon black pellet obtained by pelletizing the starting powdery carbon black containing at least one natural and/or synthetic wax. SOLUTION: The wax content of a carbon black pellet is from 1 wt.% to less than 10 wt.% against the total weight of the carbon black pellet, and the pellet hardness of each carbon black pellet is larger than 0.15 N. Preferably, the wax is at least one paraffin wax, and the starting carbon black has a DBP adsorption of from 40 to 250 ml/100 g and a nitrogen specific surface area of from 5 to 500 m /g. This carbon black pellet has improved application- technical properties and is prepared at a low energy cost.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a carbon black powder having a narrow particle size distribution and a low fine particle content by continuously dry granulating a carbon black powder in a certain dwell time in a granulator having a special structure. SOLUTION: A carbon black powder is granulated with a barbed shaft granulator which has a hollow columnar drum stator 1 having a vertical axis, a barbed shaft 2 rotating around the axis to granulate a carbon black powder and simultaneously transport it from an inlet port 5 to an outlet port 7, and barbs 3 having certain diameters and lenghts and arranged mutually with axial shift along a spiral line on the shaft 2. The granulation is conducted under such conditions that the max. peripheral speed of the tip of the barb is 1-6m/sec and that the dwell. time in the granulator is 20-600 sec, pref. 20-180sec.

    Abstract: Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur kontinuierlichen Trockengranulation von Pulverruß. Die Granulation wird mit Hilfe eines Granulators vorgenommen. Gegenüber den herkömmlich verwendeten Perltrommeln kann dadurch bei vergleichbarer Apparatgröße der Rußdurchsatz um ein Mehrfaches gesteigert werden.

    Abstract: Carbon black beads, which contain natural and/or synthetic wax and are produced by granulating carbon black powder, have a wax content of 1 to less than 10 wt.% and a hardness greater than 0.15 N. An Independent claim is also included for the continuous production of the beads. The beads are produced in a heated granulator with a toothed shaft and inlet, granulation and outlet zones. The carbon black powder is fed into the inlet zone. Molten wax or wax mixture with an average droplet size NOTGREATER 50 micron is sprayed into the first third of the granulation zone. The shaft operates at a maximum peripheral velocity of 1-6 m/s and the average residence time of the carbon black in the machine is 20-600 seconds.
