Abstract:
In order to improve contrast in diazofilms, the diazo compounds in the light-sensitive layer which are to be activated by exposure for colour formation are supplemented by diazo compounds in the case of which nitrogen remaining at the exposed locations and bubbles causing light scatter are produced after the action of light followed immediately by a heat treatment.

Abstract:
Media (I) suitable for thermal transfer, containing (a) a base layer (II), (b) a layer (III) containing (1) 75-90 wt% polymer (IV) with a m.pt. or softening pt. (s.pt.) of 100-160 degrees C and (2) 10-25 wt% polymer (V) with a melting point or softening point of at least 90 degrees C, and (c) a layer (VI) containing a polymer (VII). Also claimed are (i) media (XI) made up of layers, obtained by reacting a medium (I) with a substrate (XII) by bringing the two into contact so that layers (III) and (VI) are between layer (II) and substrate (XII); (ii) a process for the production of media (XI) by contacting (I) with (XII) as above at 80-180 degrees C.
Abstract:
Electrodes suitable for electrochemical cells are produced by a) applying a mixture comprising alpha ) a solid III which can reversibly take up or release lithium ions in an electrochemical reaction and beta ) a binder IV, or a compound which can be converted into a binder IV, to an electrically conductive support V by means of a coating apparatus II with essentially linear relative motion (R) of the support V relative to the coating apparatus II in such a way that an uncoated zone remains on the support V at each of the two margins of the coating apparatus II running parallel to the relative motion (R) and b) cutting the support V at an angle of from 5 to 85 degrees to the normal to the direction of relative motion (R) to give essentially parrallel strips.

Abstract:
Described are tape-type magnetic recording media (I) including a non-magnetic substrate (III), at least one film applied to the substrate and, in at least one of these films, an inorganic acicular pigment (II) suitable for use as a supporting pigment, the ratio of the mean length to the mean diameter of the pigment (II) being at least 3 and the mean modulus of elasticity of the films being not less than 15 GPa in the longitudinal direction of the tape-type recording medium (I).
Abstract:
Digital recording procedures wherein the recording support is not exposed to an obliterating magnetic field before recording are known in recent times. Such recording supports must therefore have good rewrite capability. It has been found that said requirement is fulfilled by two-layered recording supports, wherein the top layer contains a metal or metal alloy powder and has a density of less than 0.3 mu m and wherein the bottom layer contains a magnetic pigment. The coercitive force of the bottom layer has at the most two thirds the coercitive force of the top layer and the remanent magnetization of the bottom layer is at least 32 kA/m.
Abstract:
Magnetic recording medium comprises an upper magnetic recording layer of thickness of less than 0.5 mu m containing a fine magnetic pigment having a coercive force of 100-250 kA/m on a non-magnetic carrier; and a lower isotropic soft magnetic layer made from psi -Fe2O3, Fe3O4 or a mixed crystal of the two. The average crystal size of the lower layer is less than 10 nm. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of a magnetic recording medium. Preferred Features: The magnetic pigment in the upper layer is a metal pigment or a metal alloy pigment, preferably a hexagonal ferrite pigment or a Co-modified psi -Al2O3, Co-modified Fe3O4 or a mixed crystal of these. The soft magnetic pigment in the lower layer is made from an aluminum compound and/or a silicon compound.
