    Abstract: The invention relates to a magnetic recording medium comprising a) a layer carrier, b) at least one lower non-magnetic layer which is applied to said carrier and comprises at least one binding agent, and c) an upper magnetic layer which is applied to the lower layer, and which, dispersed in at least one binding agent, comprises at least one magnetic metal pigment or metal alloy pigment having a passivating envelope. Said recording medium is characterised in that the upper magnetic layer has a maximum dry thickness of 300 nm; the magnetic metal pigment or metal alloy pigment has a maximum length I of 90 nm; and the length I' of the metal core, the length I of the pigment, and the shortest recording wavelength lambda for the magnetic recording on the medium follow the relation: I'/I#1-18/ lambda . At least the binding agent of the magnetic layer contains both chlorine and epoxy groups, or is free of chloride.

    Abstract: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: described is polymeric binder for pigment-containing agents or bodies for applying coatings. Said binder is product of reaction of polymer based on at least one complex alkyl ester of alpha j beta-saturated carboxylic acid having 1-25 carbon atoms in alkyl moiety which comprises at least one starter and/or regulator which allow for presence of one end hydroxy group on one of ends of most polymeric chains with at least one multiatomic nonaromatic isocyanate at isocyanate group to hydroxy group molar ratio of (1.2- 3.9):1, reaction of the resulting isocyanate group containing product with at least one compound containing groups reactive with respect to isocyanates at molar ratio of reactive groups to free isocyanate groups present in product of (2-7):1 followed by reaction of the resulting product with at least one compound which reacts with free reactive groups and which introduces acid groups into product or with at least one compound containing groups which are active with respect to isocyanates said compound introduces acid groups into product containing isocyanate groups.
