Abstract:
A method and apparatus for enabling anonymous communications from a first Bluetooth device (10) to a second Bluetooth device (15) is disclosed wherein a temporary identification number (135) associated with the first Bluetooth device (10) is obtained and used in transmissions from the first Bluetooth device (10) to the second Bluetooth device (15). A temporary identification number (135) provides no clear indication of the particular Bluetooth communications device transmitting messages.
Abstract:
A method and system for electonic entry of information uses an electronic reading device that includes an optical detector for detecting a portion of an address pattern on a specially formatted surface that is adjacent to the electonic reading device. The address pattern is designed such that an exact position of the electronic reading device with respect to the specially formatted surface can be determined by detecting only a small portion of the overall address pattern. The electronic reading device can include a sensor for detecting contact between a tip of the electronic reading device and the specially formatted surface. In addition, a processor in the electonic reading device receives the detected positional data at least when the sensor detects contact between the tip of the electonic reading device and the specially formatted surface. In addition or as an alternative, the electronic reading device can include a writing means that can be selectively activated and deactivated, wherein positions are detected regardless of whether the writing means is in an activated or deactivated mode.
Abstract:
A method and system for electronic data entry using an electronic reading device that detects at least one position of the electronic reading device relative to a predefined address pattern of a specially formatted surface. Data relating to the at least one detected position is transmitted, preferably via a wireless interface using a radio transceiver. The data is received by a separate electronic device that performs an operation using the received data, wherein the operation corresponds to an area on the address pattern that contains the at least one detected position. The operation, for example, can include initiating a hyperlink function.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A method and system for generating output from an electronic reading device is based on a detected position of the electronic reading device relative to a predefined address pattern on a specially formatted paper. Based on a periodic detection of successive positions of the electronic reading device, a printer on the electronic reading device is activated in a manner such that stored text or graphics are printed on the specially formatted paper. The printing can be accomplished, for example, using a thermo-print head of the electronic reading device in connection with a thermal sensitive paper. Either as an alternative to or in addition to printing, the electronic reading device can also generate an audio output based on the detected location of the electronic reading device.

Abstract:
The present invention comprises an apparatus and method for generating and storing an electronic portrait of a buyer within a personal device such as a mobile telephone. An electronic portrait enables the generation of a physical identifier for comparison to the buyer by a seller during a transaction. Using the physical identifier transmitted to the seller via a wireless communications link, the seller can establish whether or not the buyer is authorized to make the transaction.
