    Abstract: Techniques for presenting historized process parameter values in a process plant include presenting, via a user interface of an operator application, indications of process control elements in a first display region (402, fig 4A) within a layout of a display view. Each of the process control elements is associated with one or more process parameters. The operator application also presents a trend display view in a second display region within the layout of the display view (step 462). The trend display view includes sets of historized process parameter values for process parameters presented in the first display region. For example, the trend display view in the second display region is linked to the display view in the first display region. In this manner, the trend display view presents charts or other graphical depictions of historized process parameter values for process parameters included in the first display region.

The multi-language interface object includes a parameter whose value is changeable, within the operating environment, to indicate a desired language that is to be presented on the user interface. A configuration of the graphical display view that references the configured multi-language interface object is downloaded into the operating environment. Thus, during runtime, changes in the language utilized at the user interface are implemented without any additional downloads from or communications with the configuration environment. Independently selectable user controls may be provided to independently control the language utilized by fixtures of the user interface and the language in which graphical display view content is presented.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for presenting a watch area display view in a process plant are provided. Indications of process control display elements may be presented via a user interface (8, figure 1A) of a computing device executing an operator application in an operating environment of a process plant. The process control display elements may be displayed in a first display region 410 in a display view, with each of the process control display elements corresponding to process parameters. Simultaneously with the first display region, a second display region (watch area) 420 (not occluding any process control display elements) may be presented in the display view. An indication that a user has selected one of the process control display elements in the first display region for display in the second display region may be received and in response the one or more process parameters corresponding to the selected process control display element may be displayed in the second display region (watch area) 420.

    Abstract: An electronic device and method for configuring an ethernet I/O card (EIOC) in a process control environment, configured to: (i) analyse a decoder file that maps field device variables to message positions 505; (ii) generate device signal tags (DSTs) representing process variables corresponding to a different field devices, mapped to the one or more message positions 510; (iii) upload the DSTs to a configuration database 515 so that, when the process control system is configured according to the database, the DSTs correspond to the message positions 520. The EIOC is further configured to: (a) implement a controller output function in which the EIOC is configured to receive a controller output message including a controller output value for a first DST, and respond by assigning the value to a first message position mapped to the first DST, such that the controller output value is transmitted from the EIOC to the field device at the first message position; or (b) implement a controller input function in which the EIOC is configured to: receive, from the field device, a field device output message including a controller input value at a second message position mapped to a second DST, and respond by assigning the controller input value to the second DST, such that the input value is transmitted from the EIOC to the process controller as part of a controller input message.
