Abstract: In alternative embodiments, the invention provides compositions and methods for the detection of organisms having butadiene biosynthetic capability. In alternative embodiments, the invention provides high-throughput detection methods of products of biosynthetic processes, more specifically to detection of organisms having or having improved butadiene biosynthetic capability. In alternative embodiments, the invention provides compositions and methods for screening or assaying a population of cells for: the production of a butadiene; or, for the rate of production of a butadiene; or, for the improved production of a butadiene.
