Abstract: According to examples, an apparatus may include a processor that may access a digital model of an item to be fabricated to have a plurality of features, in which the digital model may include a surface. The processor may pack a plurality of digital ellipsoids to intersect the surface of the digital model of the item, in which the plurality of digital ellipsoids are arranged with respect to each other based on a curvature of the surface. The processor may also determine locations on the surface at which the plurality of digital ellipsoids intersect the surface and may set the determined locations as points on the surface at which the plurality of features are to be formed.

Abstract: In an embodiment, an apparatus includes a projection subsystem to project an image-containing beam, and an image adjustment element. The image adjustment element is to cause adjustment of the image-containing beam in response to a detection of relative movement of the apparatus with respect to a reference object. Based on the information in the digital representation of the 3D object, the system generates print data for use in building the 3D object by the additive manufacturing machine, the print data including information specifying that a first amount of a binder agent is to be applied to a first portion of a powdered metal build material is different from a second amount of the binder agent to be applied to a second portion of the powdered metal build material, wherein the second portion is contained within the first portion.

Abstract: Disclosed are embodiments of a system and method for processing an image. An image processing unit (12) includes a processor unit (20) and a control unit (22). The processor unit is configured to receive an incoming video signal. The control unit is configured to generate first control signals that define bit planes manifested on a spatial light modulator (16). The control unit is further configured to generate second control signals that define on and off states for a solid state light source (14). The first control signals impart a reset motion sequence for mirror elements of the spatial light modulator. The second control signals maintain the solid state light source in the off state during at least part of the reset motion.
