    Abstract: The composition described includes as thickener water- soluble crosslinked acrylic homopolymers having a mean molecular weight of from 750,000 to 1,250,000 and a viscosity, in the form of a 0.5% strength by weight aqueous solution with a pH of 7.0 and a temperature of 20.degree.C, of from 1000 to 13,000 mPa-s, measured with a Brookfield viscometer at 20 rpm, and in addition thereto from 0.02 to 1.5% by weight of at least one nonionic surfactant formed from an alcohol having 6 to 22 carbon atoms which is reacted with from 1 to 10 molecules of a low molecular mass alkylene oxide, and from 0.03 to 1% by weight of at least one water-soluble salt compound of an inorganic acid or a carboxylic acid or a mixture thereof. The deicing liquid described is notable for a long holdover time and good flowoff behavior.

    Abstract: Polymer-thickened deicing and antiicing agent for aircraft is based on (a) 35-70 wt.% alkylene glycol(s) with 2-3 carbon (C) atoms and/or oxyalkylene glycol(s) with 4-6 C; (b) 0.05-1.5 wt.% water-soluble crosslinked (meth)acrylic acid homopolymer(s) with a molecular weight of 750000-1250000 and Brookfield viscosity of 1000-13000 mPa.s at 20 rpm in 0.5 wt.% aqueous solution at 20 degrees C and pH 7.0; (c) 0.02-1.5 wt.% nonionic surfactant(s), comprising a 6-22 C alcohol reacted with 1-10 molecules of a low-molecular alkylene oxide; (d) 0.03-1 wt.% water-soluble salt(s) or an inorganic and/or carboxylic acid; (e) 0.01-1 wt.% imidazole and/or triazole compound(s) as corrosion inhibitor; and (f) water to a total of 100 wt.%.

    Abstract: The deicing agent described comprises an aqueous solution of at least one alkali metal acetate or at least one alkaline earth metal acetate or a mixture of the two, and water as the principal components, and from 0.01 to 1% by weight of at least one water-soluble triazole compound or at least one water-soluble imidazole compound or a mixture of the two, and optionally from 0.01 to 0.5% by weight of at least one alkali metal phosphate as inhibitors. The process described for melting snow and ice on traffic surfaces comprises applying the novel deicing agent in an effective amount to the ice- and/or snow-covered surfaces to be treated.
