Abstract: Aryl-substd. phenoxybenzyl carboxylic acid esters (I) are new: (where R is open-chain or cyclic 1-6C alkyl opt. mono- or polysubstd. by halogen, 1-3C alkyl, 3-6C cycloalkyl, 2-3C alkenyl or phenyl (opt. in turn substd. by halogen, 1-3C alkyl, 1-3C alkoxy, 1-3C alkylthio, halo-(1-2C alkyl), halo-(1-2C alkoxy), halo-(1,2C alkylthio) or methylenedioxy), or R is a spirocyclically linked 7-8C cycloalkenyl residue opt. fused with a benzene ring; R1 is halogen, CN, NO2, 1-6C alkyl, 3-6C cycloalkyl, 1-6C alkoxy, 1-6C alkylthio, halo-(1-2C alkyl) or methylenedioxy; R2 is an aromatic residue of formula (Ia), (Ib), (Ic) or (Id). R3 is H, halogen, CN, NO2, 1-6C alkyl, 1-6C alkoxy, 1-6C alkylthio or halo-(1-2C alkyl); or R2 and R3 together represent a saturated or unsaturated 4C carbon chain which may contain an N-atom instead of a -CH:group; X is H, CN, halogen, 1-6C alkyl, 1-6C haloalkyl, 3-6C cycloalkyl, 2-6C alkenyl or 2-6C alkynyl; R4 is halogen, CN, NO2, 1-6C alkyl, 3-6C cycloalkyl, phenyl, 1-6C alkoxy, 1-6C alkylthio, halo-(1-2C alkyl), halo-(1-2C alkoxy) or methylenedioxy; R5 is H, 1-6C alkyl or 3-6C cycloalkyl; Y is O, S, SO, SO2, OCH2, CH2O, CH2, SCH2, CH2S, CO, CH:CH, N(R5) or a direct chemical bond; Z is O or S; m is 0,1,2,3 or 4; and n is 0,1,2,3,4 or 5). The new cpds. are insecticides and acaricides. They are well tolerated by plants and are suitable for use in plant protection as well as in the stored products and hygiene sectors. In addition, the cpds. are useful in the veterinary sector against parasitic insects, mites and ticks.

Abstract: Compounds of the general formula I in which X represents O, S or NOR , R represents hydrogen, halogen, CN, SCN, NO2, OH, carbamoyl, alkyl, alkoxy, thioalkyl, it being possible for these to be entirely or partly substituted by halogen, or represents phenyl, thiophenyl or phenoxy, it being possible for these to be substituted by 1 or 2 halogen atoms or a CF3 group, or represents acyl, R represents hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, it being possible for these to be entirely or partly substituted by halogen, or represents acyl or cyanomethyl, R represents hydrogen, alkyl or S-CCl3, R and R in each case independently of one another represent NO2, halogen, CN, COOH, CONH2, alkyl or alkoxy, it being possible for these to be entirely or partly substituted by halogen, or represent alkoxycarbonyl or CONR R , R represents hydrogen or halogen, R represents hydrogen, halogen, alkoxy or phenoxy, R and R represent alkyl, m represents 0 or 1 and n represents 0-5, with the proviso that in the event where X = NOR m must be 0, and the salts thereof which can be used in agriculture, have advantageous insecticidal, acaricidal, fungicidal or nematocidal properties. There are furthermore described processes for the preparation of the compounds of the formula I.
