Abstract:
The present invention discloses a system and method for counting Web-Services by means of a Resource-Counter Service offered as an own, independent Web-Service based on a SOAP communication protocol as well as a system and method for billing Web-Services using the result of the Resource-Counter Service for calculation of a charge. The Resource-Counter Service may be accessed by all Service-Provider having service description of the Resource-Counter Service. The service description for the Resource-Counter Service may be preferably created and published by the Service-Provider, categorized by the Service-Broker, and can be found and used to invoke the Resource-Counter Service by all Service-Provider using a charging model for their Web-Services. The Resource-Counter Service mainly provides the functionality to create all necessary data allowing calculation of the charge for the use of a Web-Service. The final calculation of the charge itself may be done by a separate specific accounting and bill presentment component.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a single platform where both static and dynamic function domains are integrated by providing a computer readable medium where an operating system is recorded to restart a static task without reconfiguring any of resources of the static task. SOLUTION: A kernel 1 of a POSIX operating system which is recorded on a computer readable medium is extended by an OSEK API function. At a static part 2 of the system, a typical on-vehicle application requiring the accesses to one or more CAN buses 3 are executed. A telematique function is executed at a dynamic part 4. The access to a multimedia bus 5 is typical to a set of those applications including a GPS 7 and a GSM 8. The information are exchanged between two worlds by a shared memory 6 which can secure the necessary safety.
Abstract:
A fail-safe multiprocessor system comprises processors connected through a switching unit which forms a data transfer channel between the processors. This switching unit comprises mechanical switches that can selectively connect peripheral units (e.g., display units) with one of the processors. The transfer device constitutes, from the standpoint of each of the connected processors, a normal peripheral unit. The switches are set either manually or automatically under program control by each of the processors. In the case of an error or failure, the data processing system is reconfigured such that the high priority tasks together with their associated peripheral units are transferred from the failed processor to a processor which is still intact.

Abstract:
Provided are apparatus and a method for establishing communications between a Web client computer in a vehicle and a Web server computer connected to the Internet or an intranet, initiated from a remote Web Browser. The Web Browser sends a request to the server, which invokes a process at the server causing a SMS message to be sent to a telephone connected to the client computer. This SMS message includes an identification of the server process (such as a URL) and causes the client computer to establish communications with the server. This allows the Browser to interact with the client computer via a standard Browser request without the overheads of security exposure of requiring the client to be a Web server. The invention is useful for allowing a remote Browser to interact with a computer controlling a vehicle's electronic control systems.
Abstract:
A principle for handling system failure situations thereby maintaining minimum fault recovery time and providing high system availability is described, especially for controlling the system behavior in fault situations of Electronic Control Units used in automotive vehicles. This principle is providing unique solutions for fault analysis, fault recovery definition and system re-vitalization. It is a key attribute of the principle keeping the demand for hardware and software overhead at a minimum. The method applies graceful degradation of system functionality, allowing to achieve the implementation of cost effective systems.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus provide security for a network-connected vehicle (or other networked environment) in which a predefined set of permitted operations relating to protected resources can be initiated remotely from elsewhere in the network, while security is maintained for the protected resources (for example, an engine performance optimization control unit or air conditioning control unit within a vehicle) by preventing remote initiation of any other operations on a data processing unit which is connected to the protected resources. One of a pair of gateway components runs on each of two data processing units within the vehicle (or other environment), the first processing unit being connected to the vehicle's device control units and the second processing unit being connected to the external network. The gateway components control the types of communications which can be passed from the network-connected side to the first processing unit such that only permitted operations can be requested and no unauthorized operations can be initiated remotely.
Abstract:
Operating system for processing dynamic tasks, such as telemetric functions in a vehicle operating system, where the tasks are requested, closed and deleted. The operating system can also process static tasks with such tasks requested, closed and then placed in a suspended state to be reactivated as necessary, without in the meantime tying up any resources.
