Abstract: PURPOSE: To prevent the data loss due to a shock by buffering data on adjacent tracks before write and stopping the write based on discrimination of data damage on adjacent tracks due to the shock during write and restoring data after the halt due to the shock. CONSTITUTION: Before the start of the write operation meeting a request of a microprocessor 64 of a computer system 60, data on tracks adjacent to a target track of a designated disk is stored in a buffer 78 of a device controller 72 having a processor unit 76 to which a disk drive 79 is connected. If off-track due to a mechanical shock after the start of write is detected, the write of data is stopped, and it is discriminated whether data on adjacent tracks is damaged or not, and data on adjacent tracks is restored, based on data in the buffer 78 after the halt due to the shock. Thus, the data loss due to the mechanical shock is prevented.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a device for minimizing the distortion of a read signal. CONSTITUTION: Correction is executed by a minimum amplitude detector 30 when this device is operated by a CAL(correction) signal. The detector 30 monitors an RMS value A(j), and adjusts a reference value in a registor 28. At the time of detecting that the RMS value A(j) reaches the minimum value, the detector 30 sets the reference value in the register 28, and stops the correcting operation.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To separate external linear vibrations and to reduce the rotational motion generated by the vibrations by positioning plural vibration isolating mounts provided between the rotating mechanism of a rotating disk and a user frame so that the rigidity center and the damping center are made coincident with the center of mass of the mechanism. CONSTITUTION: Vibration isolating mounts 90a, 90b, 90c and 90d, which are provided between the rotating mechanism that are mounted on a user frame 82, are arranged so that the rigidity center and the damping center are made coincident with the center of mass of the rotational mechanism. Note that the mounts satisfy the equation related to rigidity matrix components k13 and k23 and damping matrix components C13 and C23 in the equation of the motion of the rotational mechanism. Moreover, if required, a mass 92 is added to move the mass center of a driving mechanism 80 to an optimum positions. Thus, the adverse effect due to external linear vibrations is prevented.
