Abstract:
To provide an apparatus that facilitates a user's scroll operation within a computer, which uses a pointing device such as a touch screen or an input pad. This invention is directed to a configuration of an apparatus 400 for assisting an input operation into a touch screen 130, which is attached to a computer for use therewith. More particularly, this apparatus 400 includes means 410, 420 for assisting a user's vertical or horizontal scroll operation. When a user puts a stylus pen 105 on a vertical scroll box 320 and moves it along this vertical scroll guiding gutter 410, it is possible to implement a vertical (up-and-down) scroll operation in an easier manner.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which facilitates user's scroll operation for a computer which uses a pointing device such as a touch screen and an input pad. SOLUTION: The device 400 which is fitted to a computer including the screen 130 and assists input operation to a touch screen 130 includes means 410 and 420 assisting user's vertical or horizontal scroll operation. The user places a stylus pen 105 on a vertical scroll box 320 and moves it along a guide groove 410 for vertical scrolling to easily realize vertical (up-down) scroll.

PURPOSE: To shorten the transfer time of data by optimizing a queuing time set for a data signal, etc. CONSTITUTION: A printer 2 is provided with a state transition time measuring circuit 29 which detects the rise and fall of a received signal to count timing, and count data obtained by counting the rise and fall timing of the test data, the data signal, and an STB signal by the state transition time measuring circuit 29 are totalized and sent to a personal computer 1, which calculates a minimum queuing time on the basis of the count data and sets the calculated minimum queuing time to transmission timing.
Abstract:
A device for assisting scrolling on a display screen 130 comprising a guides means for guiding the direction of user's input into the device. The means include a guiding gutters 410, 420 which runs horizontally and vertically over the scroll bars on the screen in which the user can insert a stylus 105 to scroll in either direction, the device being a touch screen type device. A sliding device (620, fig 10) may be positioned on the gutter 410 with a finger block (630, fig 10) to enable to user to scroll information by sliding the block with their finger (612, fig 11).

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for improving the convenience of users, who experience inconvenience in operating various devices, such as a PC. SOLUTION: A PC 10 detects and analyzes a user's operational attributes of a keyboard, a mouse or the like and creates setting information unique to each user and provides it, changing setting of the PC 10 and the other PC 50. The user obtains information, such as whether he can use an ordinary keyboard, an ordinary mouse and the like by changing a parameter or whether he should use a peripheral, such as an on-screen board and a substitute mouse. Changes in the setting of the other PC 50 is implemented by storing the setting information provided by the PC 10 in a luggable memory 30 and installing it to the other PC 50. Even after the setting is implemented, the contents of the setting may be updated by monitoring the user's operation or conducting periodical tests. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To shorten the time for transmission by omitting the transmission of the same data when those same data are continued, and transmitting the number of times of that repetition as compressed data to compress data in real time. CONSTITUTION: Each time one-byte data are transmitted, a transmission driver 12 performs compression processing to those data by using a compressing part 13. Then, it is compared whether the data transmitted the last time are equal with the data to be transmitted this time. When the same data are continued, the transmission of those same data is omitted, the number of times of that repetition is compressed and transmitted as the compressed data, and a compression flag is turned on by select-in. When the compression flag is turned on by the select-in, on the reception side, the received data are judged as compressed data, and the already received data are extended repeatedly as many times as the number of times of repetition of those compressed data. Thus, data can be compressed and transmitted in real time and the time for transmission can be shortened.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to easily select an appropriate support. SOLUTION: The support device for supporting a user to understand a content includes: a history storage part which stores histories of support setting set by the user for each of a plurality of contents the user accessed; a search part which searches, when the user accesses a content, the histories of support setting stored in the history storage part in association with the content to be accessed; and a setting part which sets, based on the histories of support setting searched by the search part, a support function for supporting the understanding of the content to be accessed. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling elements configuring a virtual world in a virtual world and a device for controlling a computer program and a virtual word configuring element. SOLUTION: Disclosed is a method for controlling information shared in a virtual world by a server and a plurality of users' client terminals connected to each other through a network. In this information control method, a computer creates a third object between a first object and a second object in the virtual world when the first object and second object transmit communication information therebetween, and filters the information with the third object. In addition, when an object transmits visual information, the third object can be created around the object transmitting the visual information. The third object can be created as a pseudo wall. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input method using a pointing device capable or precisely recognizing the latch state of the pointing device and eliminating the erroneous operation in a transition to the latch state, and a portable information terminal equipped with the function thereof. SOLUTION: In this input method using the pointing device, an application is made to recognize the ON state of the pointing device by ON-operation and the OFF state of the pointing device by OFF operation. The input method comprises a step for realizing the latch state for keeping the ON state in the application even if the OFF operation of the pointing device is performed in response to the continuation of the ON operation of the pointing device for a given length of time, and a step for executing a program for making a user recognize the realization of the latch state.
