Abstract: PURPOSE: To maximize cache hits by using a page stealing technique for releasing a cache page unlikely to be referred to soon by a different cache reader. CONSTITUTION: Address spaces 25 and 27 successively read a data set 28 and a control element 29 appropriately arranges data read in a buffer 25A or 27A inside a virtual cache H21. In this case, when it is judged that page stealing is required, based on the estimated time of a successive utilization reference until the reutilization of a backing storage page by one of successive readers, the backing storage page to be stolen is judged. Then, as soon as it is requested, the backing storage page is kept stolen as needed until reaching a target. Thus, efficient cache access is performed.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide an efficient inter-space branch process to separated programs in different address spaces in a group of related address spaces of a subsystem. CONSTITUTION: The group has a fundamental space and at least one partial space, and each partial space can include a program and data, which cannot be accessed from other partial spaces, to separate the program and data in a subsystem. Any CPU in a computer system can designate programs found in address spaces. A designating process checks authority for access to the group of a user of the group and executes an intra-group program call instruction which designates first and second general registers.
