Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To respond to unrecognized necessity of an application of installed computer technique by preventing or decreasing generation of bothersome behavior which can form an unsuccessful factor when a door latch of a vehicle is unlocked. SOLUTION: A sensor detects an effect which can occur due to opening of the vehicle door latch by a mechanical means, and temporarily inhibits an electronic lock releasing signal until the mechanical activating means is absent. Preferably, all functions are executed in an installed microprocessor control device of the automobile, and the control device checks the state of the door sensor upon occurrence of the lock-releasing event. When the sensor detects that a person tries to mechanically open the door, a lock-releasing signal is not immediately transmitted. Preferably, the control device continues to check the state of the door sensor, and activates a lock-releasing mechanism only after the sensor is in a clear state. However, if the sensor is not cleared in a predetermined time-out period, the control device simply interrupts lock- releasing operation. This is executed for avoiding confusion of the user by the lock-releasing operation a little while after pressing-down a lock-releasing switch.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method with which a user can input alphanumeral information to a video game console by providing a keyboard connected to the video game console. SOLUTION: A keyboard 110 is inserted directly to a video game controller input on a video game console 120, and a video control code compatible with the video game controller input is generated from key strokes on the keyboard. The video game controller recognizes the video control code from the keyboard and interprets that the video control code on the video game controller input corresponds to the keys on the keyboard in accordance with a defined map.

Abstract: An apparatus, program product and method track the location of a vehicle during at least a portion of a period of the time associated with an economic transaction so that risks associated with the actual usage of the vehicle can be accommodated in the costs for the transaction. In particular, a determination is made during a time period associated with an economic transaction as to whether the vehicle is located at a location having an increased level of risk. Cost s for the economic transaction are then adjusted based at least in part on the presence of the vehicle in a location with an increased level of risk. In one exemplary environment, car rental rates a re adjusted based upon the actual usage of a rented vehicle. In another exemplary environment, insurance premiums are adjusted based upon the actual usage of an insured vehicle. In either event, usage that results in a vehicle being located in areas of comparatively higher risk can be accounted for in additional transactional costs, resulting in improved allocation of risk and minimizati on of economic inefficiencies.

Abstract: A computer displays information in a web page according to geographical information. In a first embodiment, a new HTML tag is defined that allows specifying a geographical location or region. A geographical location specification is set in the web browser, whi ch then displays the web page to the user according to the geographical location specification input by the user. Note that the geographical location may be set manually by a user specifying geographical location or region by inputting information in the computer, such as city, state, zip code, area code, or by pointing to a location on a map. In addition, the geographical region may be set automatically by an internal global positioning system (GPS) detector that detects the geographical location of the computer. In a second embodiment, a geographical location specification is set in the web browser, and this location information is then transmitted to a web server along with a reques t for a web page. The web server then renders a web page that is customized according to the transmitted geographical location specification. As in the first embodiment, the location may be set manually by a user, or may be set automatically using an internal GPS detector in the computer.

Using the present invention, a user may provide keyboard input to a video game console, which is especially useful in browsing information via the Internet.
