SOLUTION: Track following is performed in the outer peripheral part of the disk outside an effective recording region for a specified period after the head 3 is loaded onto the disk 1 from a ramp loading mechanism 17. The movement to the inner side of the disk and the movement to the outer side thereof are repeated in the outer peripheral part after the track following in the outer peripheral part of the disk. The velocity Vout of the outer side moving is set larger than the velocity Vin of the inner side moving, more preferably at about several times.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To equaly and stably supply the suitable quantity of lubricant onto the surface of a magnetic disk for a long time by providing a clamp mechanism for fixing the disk to a spindle motor and a mechanism for fixing a lubricant containing member and a thin film while sandwiching them between the clamp mechanism and the magnetic disk. CONSTITUTION: This device has a lubricant containing member 14 for containing and holding certain quantity of lubricant suppliable onto a magnetic disk 10 for a long time, thin film 20 for supplying the prescribed quantity of lubricant onto the magnetic disk 10 while gradually making the lubricant permeable from this lubricant containing member 14, and clamp mechanism for fixing these lubricant containing member 14 and the thin film 20 together with the magnetic disk 10. The clamp mechanism has a clamp ring 16 and a screw mechanism 18, the thin film 20 is compressed by the screw mechanism 18, which is formed at the terminal part of the clamp mechanism, and fixed onto the magnetic disk 10 and corresponding to the quantity of this compression, the quantity of lubricant to be supplied onto the surface of the magnetic disk can be controlled.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slider that can reduce read and write errors caused by particles and ensure the reliability. SOLUTION: This is a slider 3a facing the recording disk medium and supporting the data read-write head and has an air bearing surface formed between the inflow edge 10 and the outflow edge 11. It has a U shaped rail consisting of the side and cross rails 20-22 formed on the air bearing surface with its front edges positioned at the outflow edge 11 and landing pads 30a, 31a formed between the front edges of the side and cross rails 20-22 and the outflow edge 11. Of the landing pads 30a, 31a, the landing pad 31a facing close to the outer periphery of the disk is made to project at the side closer to the rail.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To execute a restriction and a mitigation, despite the change in relative temp. and relative humidity inside a hard disk drive by providing a wide surface area, in order to permit moisture absorption on the inner surface of a disk enclusure. CONSTITUTION: An anodically oxidized porous coat having porous surface structure is generated on the surface of an aluminum plate to be used in the disk enclosure, by the anodic oxidization method using oxalic acid. The hard disk drive is assembled by incorporating elements, such as a disk driving device 11 having a disk 11a and a head driving part 12, etc., having a head 12a inside the disk enclosure 10. Air volume inside the hard disk drive is 80ml, and the whole inner surface area of the enclosure 10 is about 3.2m . Thus, relative humidity inside the drive is lowered, when temp. is increased and absorption moisture on the inner surface of the enclusure 10 is vaporized. Conversely, vapor is absorbed on the surface inside the enclosure 10 when relative humidity is increased at the time of temp. lowering and temp. change is restricted.
