Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to remove a deposit stuck to the head of an information recording and reproducing device. SOLUTION: A step 102 where the head read/write operation is stopped, a step 106 for amplitude selection, steps 108 and 110 where the seek operation is repeated with the selected amplitude, a step 116 where this amplitude is changed, steps 108 and 110 where the seek operation is repeatedly performed with the changed amplitude, and a step 114 where the amplitude is repeated I successively changed to repeatedly perform the seek operation are provided. In the operating information recording and reproducing device, a deposit stuck to the head which reads and writes data in and from a rotating disk recording medium is removed.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To enhance the reliability by suppressing increase of humidity in a case incident to temperature drop. CONSTITUTION: A disc 16 is encased in a box type case body 12 having open upper surface and a magnetic head 18 for reading/writing information from/onto the disc 16 is supported by a drive mechanism 20. A cover 14 is secured to the upper part of case body 12 by means of a plurality of screws 22 and a substantially enclosed state is brought in a drive 10. A woven cloth 24A of stainless steel fibers is folded into a moisture absorbing body 24 which is disposed between the case body 12 and cover 14. The moisture absorbing body 24 is sandwiched between the lower surface of cover 14 and the bottom face of case body 12 and secured in the drive 10.

Then the bumps 12c are not formed in a region facing to the minimum fly height region of the head slider to be bump-free zone 12b.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To execute a restriction and a mitigation, despite the change in relative temp. and relative humidity inside a hard disk drive by providing a wide surface area, in order to permit moisture absorption on the inner surface of a disk enclusure. CONSTITUTION: An anodically oxidized porous coat having porous surface structure is generated on the surface of an aluminum plate to be used in the disk enclosure, by the anodic oxidization method using oxalic acid. The hard disk drive is assembled by incorporating elements, such as a disk driving device 11 having a disk 11a and a head driving part 12, etc., having a head 12a inside the disk enclosure 10. Air volume inside the hard disk drive is 80ml, and the whole inner surface area of the enclosure 10 is about 3.2m . Thus, relative humidity inside the drive is lowered, when temp. is increased and absorption moisture on the inner surface of the enclusure 10 is vaporized. Conversely, vapor is absorbed on the surface inside the enclosure 10 when relative humidity is increased at the time of temp. lowering and temp. change is restricted.

Abstract: The inside wall of a head/disk enclosure is given a surface broad enough to adsorb and release easily a large amount of water vapor. In a first embodiment, the inside surface is treated by anodic oxidation using oxalic acid. In a second embodiment, the inside surface is treated with sodium carbonate and sodium chromate. In a third embodiment, the surface was etched with acid. The water adsorption capability acts as a buffer to prevent extremes of relative humidity within the enclosure.
