Abstract: A process for manufacturing a sealing glass composition consisting essentially of the following ingredients in the following proportions:
The process comprises the steps of providing the batch of ingredients to the above proportions and insuring a full mixture or mixing of the same. Thereafter, in one embodiment of the process, the batch may be heated to between 750 and 850*C to form a liquid melt and then the liquid melt is further heated until the temperature is 1,100 + OR - 20*C. Abstract: @ A process for forming via openings (60) in a relatively thick layer (50) of borosilicate glass while controlling the degree of taper of the side walls of the opening to be not less than 45° by (1) depositing a layer of silicon nitride that contains silicon in an amount in excess of stoichiometric in Si 3 N 4 (2) densifying the silicon nitride layer, (3) depositing a layer of resist, (4) exposing and developing the layer of resist to define a desired pattern of openings in the borosilicate glass layer, (5) removing the exposed silicon nitride areas, and (6) subjecting the resultant exposed borosilicate glass surface to an etchant for the glass.

Abstract: The lifetime of multiiple capillary nozzle assemblles embeddcd in a glass mass, of a multiple nozzle ink-jet printer, can be increased and the thermal and mechanical compatibility of thc resulting package enhanccd by fabrication of thc nozzles from glass compositions comprised o and MgO. Inclusion of ZrO2 as well as minor amounts of BaO, MgO, CaO, and Al2O3 enhances the alkali resistance of the glass nozzles. Also, the high SiO, contcnt of the glasses combined with thc presence of ZrO2, MgO, CaO, and Al2O3 imparts an acid resistance to the nozzles.
