Abstract: A reticle for an object measurement system has a pattern 10 having a plurality of pairs of contrasting elements in the form of black (11..14) and white (21..24) wedges. Each black/white wedge pair defines a path towards a pattern origin 19 such that an edge of an object 50 occluding the path causes a change in contrast adjacent an edge point along the path. The pattern has a series of Gray-coded elements 15 associated with each pair of black/white wedges. The Gray-coded elements are indicative of an absolute coordinate of each edge point at which an object edge crosses a path. A series of triangles 16 associated with each pair of black/white wedges, whose absolute coordinates are known, allow a measurement system to provide accurate coordinates for each edge point.

Abstract: A system for preparing a first multimedia stream, comprises a repository 140 for storing a plurality of tracks wherein each track is associated with at least one second multimedia stream. A track comprises a single type of data e.g. audio, video etc. The system receives a request comprising an associated parameter); e.g. position parameter; determines at least two of the tracks associated with the parameter; 125 (e.g. wherein the at least two tracks have associated information that matches the position parameter); and collates 130 the determined at least two tracks in order to generate the first multimedia stream 135. The collation may involve interleaving, overlagging or concentration of the tracks.

Abstract: Disclosed is apparatus for wide-angle image capture comprising a pair of image capture device 301,302, each image capture device being arranged to capture an image from one plane mirror; and a pair of said plane mirrors, each plane mirror being arranged to reflect a portion of a scene to one of said image capture devices, said pair of plane mirrors being arranged in planes which intersect at an edge and form a reflective wedge 303, said edge being between said scene and a line between optical centres of said image capture devices. In the apparatus, the image capture devices have their virtual optical centres substantially lying on a common plane which intersects said edge, further characterised in that said virtual optical centres of said image capture devices are located substantially on a median plane of said wedge. Preferably, the field of view overlap is less than 0.1 and preferably less than 0.06 degrees. The devices can be cameras or charge-coupled devices. The mirrors can be rectangular or trapezoidal. Preferably a plurality of devices (601,603, Fig 6 or 703,704, Fig 7) are provided with either a further wedge mirror (605, Fig 6) or a pair of intersecting wedges (701,702, Fig 7).

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for reducing the computational overhead of bicubic interpolation while still providing a similar level of accuracy. The invention takes into account the fact that sampled points surrounding a point whose value is to be determined have respective first, second and third order effects on the calculated value. The invention combines linear interpolation, ignoring points having a third order effect, with cubic interpolation of points having a first and second order effect to derive the value.
