The present invention relates to a household appliance comprising an electronic control unit (15), power supply means (12, 13, 14) for the electronic control unit (15), a first bistable circuit (11), to which a first switch (S1) is connected which is adapted to switch the first bistable circuit (11) between a first stand-by mode, in which the electronic control unit (15) is not powered, and a second operating mode, in which the electronic control unit (15) is powered regularly to wake up from said first stand-by mode. In addition, the household appliance comprises a second bistable circuit (17), to which a second switch (S2) is connected which is adapted to switch the first bistable circuit (11) between the first stand-by mode and the second operating mode, and also adapted to switch the second bistable circuit (17) to a mode in which the second bistable circuit (17) outputs a signal (18) to the electronic control unit (15) to cause the execution of a predefined or preset program of the household appliance. The present invention also concerns a related electronic system employed in a household appliance.

The present invention relates to an electric standby circuit (4) for an electric appliance. The circuit comprises a switch (41) adapted to open and close an electric connection between a first input (IN1) and an output (OUT) of the circuit (4), and a bistable circuit electrically connected to the switch in order to control the opening and closing thereof. The bistable circuit comprises a first BJT transistor (Q19) of the pnp type and a second BJT transistor (Q12) of the npn type. The first transistor (Q19) is connected to the first input (IN1) through the emitter, and the collector of the first transistor (Q19) is connected to the base of the second transistor (Q12) through a first resistor (R39). The collector of the second transistor (Q12) is connected to the switch (41) and to a second input (IN3) through a second resistor (R40). The base of the first transistor (Q19) is connected to the second input (IN3) through a third resistor (R38).

The present invention relates to an adapter for use in a bidirectional communication system. It comprises a first node (nl) for the connection to a port (9) of a communication device (ICl) of the communication system, and a second node (n2) for the connection to a line (SDA) of the communication system. The adapter also comprises a current source (103) connected to the second node (n2), so that current is drawn from the latter when said source is activated by suitable means (100). The latter comprise a comparator which compares a voltage being present at said first node with a preset switching threshold, and drive said source as a function of said comparison.
